Doubt about Industrialists quest

We've just started selling the Stargate frames and the Guy With Money is requesting the agreed 50/50 on the profits, but I can't figure out how the hell you are supposed to pay him. There's nothing on the quest itself, no idea where the dude is (at least to tray to pay in situ or something), nothing.

Anyone knows how to progress with that? I know this is EA but man, this game is BAD at conveying what you should do at any given point.

When you sell some of the goal items for the mission, you will make a profit and the mission listing on the top left will show a button asking you to click to pay him half. You get this for every related transaction you make until the mission is complete.

You will also see that the goal materials (e.g Stargate Frames or Stargate Resin) are shown at the top of your Trade view, and highlighted to show they are of special value during the given Stargate Phase. There are also dialogs explaining this as part of the first DSI mission.

You can sell the goal items at any system with a trading post.

You can also click the button at the bottom to show the Stargate view, which shows your goal items and progress for the given Stargate Phase. This is not revealed until you are underway in the first or second DSI mission, if I recall correctly. I have played them through once so far. I should play again to test them more.

There I can see my stargate progress (first complete, second step in progress) and nothing else. The guy kept calling me threatening to break my legs asking for his money... until the mission suddenly 'failed', it kicked me out of the foundry and that's it. Did you manage to actually give him his money?

Edit: sorry on mobile, just read the first post: nothing clickable on the mission log on the left, it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of non scrollable accomplished goals and if the button was there, it was not visible... I will probably start a new save and try to see if it was some kind of bug or something

Wow, I’ve not seen what happens when you don’t pay him! I just pushed the button and paid him whenever it asked. If you load an earlier savegame, do you see the button after making a mission sale? If not, you may have found a bug.

I think I have a save a cople hours earlier, when I'm at the computer I'll try and see what happens... I'll report back just for the science :p

I think the mission will vastly increase the sell price of the item, to like 2.5x, so even if you give him half of profit you still gain more than normal

Correct. Also, if you see the big enforcer ships that come and see off the estranged investor, I think that's a sign of what you might expect in future updates if you welch on the deal...
