Transferring resources between ships -> shuttle suggestion
It seems likely we are going to be able to accommodate multiple ships in the mid/late game.

I suggest the combined use of shuttles (exactly as per the shuttle which delivers cargo and personnel to us in Alpha) and minimum-stock levels per ship to ease this side of the game.

(Others have suggested that we should be able to dock ships - and that's okay when you're dealing with 2-3. But when your fleet gets larger, it'll just become onerous.)

  • We set a desired resource level per ship (e.g. we want Ship A to always carry 2,000 O2)
  • We introduce a new ship module; the shuttle bay which can be purchased and installed like any other module - this serves as a base for the shuttle
  • The shuttle requires a couple of crew
  • The shuttle requires fuel
  • Behind the scenes, the ships place logistics orders as their stockpiles reach the minimum levels of resources
  • The shuttle/s serve these orders in order / or perhaps introduce a priority listing for the deliveries

Potentially other gameplay elements which could use a shuttle too.

I like it, makes a lot of sense. There would need to be a little more to it, though, like a way to designate a primary supply ship to draw from so we're not seeing "micro deliveries" from all over the fleet.
....though to be honest I'd probably endorse any step in the right direction while we have nothing.

I like this idea. As a further suggestion, have a *very* expensive item available for purchase only from shipyards - a transporter, which allows you to transfer items and crew but at a very high energy cost.
