Repairing damage...that came from nothing?

Every time I build my ship bigger the damage number goes up. I can't figure out how to 'repair' this damage either, any advice?

As modifications can only be done in systems with shipyard, does option to repair ship by shipyard appears (lower left menu) when this "new" damage happens?
Or do you mean internal component damage? That one is very messy and expects further works.

It was just the damage number at the top increasing. I never saw the option to repair, but I also didn't know it was there. I'll look for it. Thank you

Were you in a FTL jump, cause if you get caught by the anomaly it does damage

To make repairs you need the Drone Bay and Drones, then select Orders (bottom right of screen) and Repair Hull. I always leave Repair Hull turned on so any damage gets fixed straight away.

Just be aware they don't repair the hull, they patch the hull. If you look closely at the exterior hull during drone repairs you will see them welding patch plates to the hull. Drones can never fully fix the hull. This can only be done at a shipyard. But the drone patches can mean the difference between still being alive and the cold sweet vacuum of space =D

This. They will even help work on hull breeches this way during combat.

Probably a good place to also mention for people that proper repairs are found in a button on the leftmost dialogue where you install and uninstall things while you are in a system with a shipyard. I think repairs should probably be found both there and as an option on the Editor screen, because I like the convenience of the current location but it feels more intuitive that you would look for it in the same place you go to work on the interior and hull of your ship.
