Oof the price. Is it worth it yet?
How do you rate the price to fun ratio? Is it worth it at this point of the early access?

I'm enjoying the game but there are quite a few things which need to be fixed. Maybe at half the price it would be easy to forgive the current shortcomings. I'm sure the guys will be working on it though 😀

I don't think it will be worth it until 2-4 years have passed. That is if Introversion keeps working on till then.

Keep an eye on gamivo website. I got this for around 18 euro. For that price it's worth jumping in

Seems a bit steep, Introversion was a good dev - but they kinda cashed in (read "greedy") with prison architect by selling it to paradox - the dlc spam publisher. So it is hard to say whether they are still interested in making a good game or just the money.

Also, because of the higher price it seems like sales are low (not very many reviews) - so will they keep supporting it, hard to know.

The demo does seem good, but this might be a wait and see.

The word is that there is virtually no content here yet, and they are asking this price. Seems a bit iffy.
What there is of the game looks all right. It all depends on what you are getting for your money. I was expecting it to be more in the £10 to £15 area. I guess they are asking more because they think they are known for other games. It's a bit like paying more because it has a label.

Technically, you’re not paying for the game in its current state (which is lacking), you’re paying for the game’s future content as well.

I see the potential in the game. I bought it and am going along for the ride.

Okay, but they should be asking this price at launch and not for what sounds to be a demo.
You want backing and feedback? Then give some incentive.
Someone has just mentioned Plan B, that game is a fantastic title for £7 with a ton of content.

Most people who are interested in this game buy it early.

If it was being sold too cheaply, the developers would be losing out on a lot of money since these players already bought the game at a big discount.

If they decided to sell it cheaply, then add in new stuff for an additional price, people would still complain.

This is a career for the devs, not a hobby. It’s basic business.

For me, the incentive is that I get to help promote ideas that will make this game better, so in effect I'm helping to shape the game. To what degree my suggestions are considered, well that really doesn't matter as the core of the game is something I enjoy so I've already locked in my price, which is the cost of a few meals.

Thanks for mentioning Plan B, I'll have to give it a looksee.

But selling at a cheaper price helps to gain a large user base. Dev's that have faith in their game have no problem with this.
This is why people are wary of EA titles that are expensive, their reasoning is that the dev's have no faith in their game and just want to recover their loses before it all goes pear-shaped.
I wish I had a penny for titles like that which I bought and are now deep in my rubbish pile.

And with Plan B they can ask £20 on release and they will get it, mainly because of the massive fan base, reviews, vids, etc.
With this title and it's price it will probably have a very small fan base with very little exposure.
It's done now and the dev's can't turn back the clock, but I think they made a grave error with the price.
Disregarding the price, the game looks really interesting, something like I have been looking for and I would have snatched it up regardless of content for £10/£15.

As a counterpoint, a price that is too high will also limit sales and therefore make you less money. An example from above is that "Plan B" is selling for about 1/3 the price of this, yet has about 5x the reviews, so likely has about 5x the sales.

5 * 1/3 = 5/3, so "Plan B" likely made more money, as well it probably is getting more visibility, which is also necessary for sales.

I really thing the sweet spot for this game would have been about 2/3 it's current price - a price that in my country is higher than prison architect -- introversion's most successful game.

If they do stick with the game and make it good, then they will likely overcome the steep price, but introversion has also abandoned games that have not sold well, so there may be some risk.

As much i love Introversion for created Darwinia, Defcon and Uplink.. And because of that I paid for this earlier version of The Last Ship... I believe this is not worth the mony right now. For example Cosmoteer: Starship Architect & Commander is cheaper and offers much more right now. There are also other games in that style cheaper than The Last Ship and offers more right now. And that is a bit disappointment for me about this purchase for that price tag.

It's not supposed to be worth the money yet. If you buy it now you're expressing a vote of confidence that it will be worth $30 in the next 1-2 years.
