Dark pebbles?

Does anyone know what to do with the dark pebbles? I finished the game (100% according to the eye, had a great time) and I never found a use for them. I assume I can sell them to someone like the smooth rock guy but never found a buyer. Am I blind?

There is a person in the treetops area that you give them to and they start growing a garden. No clue what happens when you get them all as I haven't been able to find them all I don't think.

sorry to bother but where in the treetops could i find this person? i found the dude once before and ive been running around feeling stupid because i dont remember where in the treetops they are lol

He's right by where the Butterfly boss is, across some grapple spots.
