It's literally to the point where myself, my boyfriend, and my best friend each choose a set of steps we do, to make the progress go fairly quickly....we'll get to the second to last, maybe the third to last step, and it gets reset all the way back to either the first step completed, or materialize the ghost completed....we haven't been playing it because of that factor. It's a good mechanism idea, but it's too frequent. It'll happen 3-4 times before we either A: finally catch it, or B: leave. And on big maps like the eastern Europe house makes it reset steps alot faster because it takes abit longer to complete the steps due to the size of the map.
Right!!! like I JUST found out today that you can stop the progress by stepping in the traps too lol.
we just had that...we hadn't even DONE any of the steps yet and it was canceling them lol like HUNNY WE HAVEN'T DONE NOTHING STAHP

This is why we never do iron maiden.
I would like to take up the thread and the offer from the developer @Woliam and express my dissatisfaction with the greatly increased level of difficulty:
My son (he's a real gamer, plays “Ultrakill” on the hardest difficulty) and I have always enjoyed playing Ghostwatchers for a few rounds every now and than. It was always fun. But the new skills of the higher ghosts have already spoiled the fun. It's absolutely frustrating when you've banished a ghost in the pentagram and are killed by knives in the wall - but you have to dodge right there during the ritual. That's just bad balancing by the developers, I'm sorry to say. Overall, some of the ghost skills are really the opposite of fun.
We played on anyway because we wanted to get to know the level 30 ghosts.
What can I say? We played exactly one round:
When we had the Iron Maiden as an opponent and she wiped out our hard-won progress with a single swipe, we turned the game off in frustration - and have never touched it since.
All in all, it's a real, real shame that the developers only seem to start from their own skillset, but not from that of the gamers - and we are certainly no noobs!
Nevertheless, the level of difficulty of Ghostwatchers in the meantime is so high that I'm inclined to change my positive rating to a negative one, because I can't recommend buying it.
Ultimately, this will also be a reason why hardly any other maps are played: if the game can hardly be completed on the base map, then you don't even need to start the other maps.
Overall, I really love the game and have played it passionately. It pains me all the more that the developers have “ridden it to ruin”. Hopefully, the balancing will be tweaked again - and it would be very sensible and wise to invite community members to the tests!
Once that's done, I would of course be happy to see more ghosts and more maps. But from my point of view, the most important thing now is to get the balancing under control and make the game fun to play again.
Sincerly, all the best
Vanden
We do have a community testers for the coming and next updates, all of the previous and next updates are based on community wishes.
It's impossible to create a special update for every opinion.
We are sorry that in present state the game seems to be very hard for you.
Also, this thread is made for Iron Maden, we weakned her ability and asked community about it.
oh! I didn't know you guys weakened it! I'll have to play today to give it a test run then for sure
Thank you for your reply.
I understand that it's not feasible to create a special update for every individual opinion. However, from my perspective, the overall balancing seems to be an issue that many players have noticed. Additionally, player data (e.g., usage frequency of other maps) appears to support this observation.
It wasn’t clear to me — and where exactly was it communicated? — that Iron Maiden has already been nerfed. I will gladly test it and provide feedback in this thread (is this the correct place for that?).
Once again, thank you for your direct feedback.
Ig this is the correct place to write feedback about it.
buuuuut the traps are way too hard to see. on one hand it's okay, since it's a TRAP, on the other - smtms it's almost invisible on the dark floors. dunno, mb change colors in different maps?..
See the traps aren't the issue I have, its the canceling everything. It's frustrating when you get one step away from being done, and it resets everything. Especially if you're just trying to play for an hour or two. I'm the opposite, stepping in the traps make me giggle especially when my friends step in them and get jumpscared lmfao.
