Seam, beach and Heartman. Questions. (help)
1. timestamp minute (1:51:53) - https://youtu.be/t5DyYeWl9ZU?feature=shared&t=6713
Why Heartman said this to us at this moment? i didn't quiet get it: "time stops on the beach but not in the seam" what's his point in this instance?

2. i know that the seam is the place that connects you to the afterlife, but the beach? and heartman said in one of his entries that the dead go firstly to the seam, then to the beach. but you can see heartman, when he died in his backstory but then came back to life, that he was in the beach and not the seam when he arrived.

3. why he needs to find his family the afterlife isn't the same for everyone right? but if so, doesn't it mean everyone has their own afterlife? wait now that i think about it, the beach is diffrent for everyone not the afterlife, so why finding them? he could just stop living and meet with them there.

4. lastly, what heartman means by this timestamp (minute 1:50:31) - https://youtu.be/t5DyYeWl9ZU?feature=shared&t=6631 a diffrent beach from what? everyone has their own no? so of course resentment and the psyvhology of person would shape their beach, what is the big discovery here lol?

5. why heartman can see other's beaches? because of his heart right? but what about it? it's not that clear to me.

thanks a lot!

1. Death is not instantaneous, but a process. The Seam is the first state, kind of like a purgatory. In-game, it's the dark sea where you wake up as soon as you die (that place with the other bodies floating around). What Heartman means is that the 3 minutes when he is dead (to Sam) is the same time he spends in The Seam. He doesn't just wake up in The Beach (where time stops) right off the bat.

2. That was just for cinematic purposes. And remember Heartman's research of The Beach is a process, he learns how it works through his successive travels there. He probably woke up in The Seam at first, he just didn't know what it was.

3. The Beach itself is a different place from the living world, but everyone perceives it differently - that's what he means when he says everyone has a different one. In a sense, the dead people are all there together, but they can't perceive one another. And about him going to The Beach every day, that's part of his backstory. He realizes he'll never find his family that way and gives his quest up after the game. You have to understand one of the themes of DS is that people are lying to themselves. Yes, even Sam.

4. That one is easy - he's talking about Clifford Unger's beach, where more than one person can see the same Beach - in that case, soldiers that died in wars. It turns into a completely differently place that is molded by all their different memories. That's why the first time you go there it's during WW1, the second time it's WW2, and so on.

5 . That's just how he is.

thank you, can i add a few more confusion parts? and before i do that i didn't quiet get 1, i mean, why saying that to sam in this specific instance?

to add to that, i asked in the other post when mama tweaked the code, and for what purpose. i saw people saying it wasn't her, but in that lockne scene lockne thinks it was mama who tweaked it. but why? and when? english is not my first language. so i would appreciate the help :)

Heartman knew Sam had already gone to the Beach a few times, and that he knew there's no concept of time in there. When he says he's gonna stay gone for 3 minutes (in Sam's view), he's just telling Sam that those 3 minutes are spent in the Seam, not in the Beach (because time stops in the Beach).

About Lockne and Mama, I don't think there's any hidden motive or anything. The first Bridges Expedition took 3 years to link all the territories up to Edge Knot City (the final place you link in the game), and Mama already had suspicions about the long-term viability of the Q-Pid Limiters. But since the chiral network was abruptly disconnected, she couldn't investigate it any further. When Sam linked all the prior nodes again, he did it much faster (probably a few weeks or months), so the older limiters didn't work anymore.
Of course, this could be a plot point they'll clarify in the upcoming Death Stranding 2.

(About the timeframe of the game: we can only be sure the story of the whole game is less than 1 year long, because that's how long BBs can live inside that pod).

but heartman wants to check the beach itself no? so it's not like he will only be in the seam.
also you said "But since the chiral network was abruptly disconnected, she couldn't investigate it any further" what do you mean abruptly disconnected? maybe i haven't reached that yet in game? i don't know what you are referring to by this

He's just explaining things to Sam (and by extension, to the player).

About the other question: Sam's mission in this game is to RE-link the chiral network nodes. They were linked three years before by the Bridges I Expedition, but at the end of the expedition, the whole network was disconnected by terrorists (♥♥♥♥ Demens). Along the way in your travels, a few characters will mention they were part of the chiral network before (usually distribution centers or small cities).

Anyway, once you reach the final node you will understand.
