DEATH STRANDING DIRECTOR'S CUT

DEATH STRANDING DIRECTOR'S CUT

Does It Still Hold Up in 2025?
I recently went back to replay Death Stranding in anticipation of Death Stranding 2, and I couldn't help but notice how much the original feels dated now. Don't get me wrong—the first game was a technical marvel when it launched, but compared to what we've seen from DS2, it's clear that Kojima Productions is taking things to a whole new level.

Graphically, Death Stranding had stunning landscapes and impressive motion capture for its time. But now, those visuals seem a bit flat, especially after seeing the incredible detail and environmental depth showcased in the trailers for Death Stranding 2. The character models, lighting, and world design in DS2 look far more immersive and lifelike. The jump in graphical fidelity is stark, making the original feel just a bit less impressive now.

Gameplay-wise, the original's systems can feel clunky in retrospect. While the deliberate pacing and delivery mechanics were innovative, the movement and interactions don't seem as refined when compared to what DS2 appears to be offering. If the sequel delivers the expanded mechanics and improved pacing it hints at, returning to the original can feel like a chore in some sections.

What makes the wait even harder is the fact that the PC release for Death Stranding 2 might not happen right away. If history repeats itself, it could take up to a year after the console launch before PC players get their hands on it. That would be a tough wait, especially given how much more visually and mechanically ambitious the sequel seems to be.

I'm still grateful for what Death Stranding achieved back in 2019, but there's no denying that time has taken some of the shine off the experience. Hopefully, Kojima Productions' improved tech and design innovations in DS2 will breathe fresh life into the series for both console and PC players alike.

This game came out in 2019, maybe you are blinded by nostalgia and don't play a lot of newer games.

Asks for opinions, gets one, proceeds to invalidate it.
Based i like your style.

Imo, the game feels and looks good. I remember playing bootleg 1/10 games my parents used to find god knows where back whn i was a kid, ugly and boring stuff.
You're just spoiled by modern gaming and you want everything to be as photorealistic as possible i guess.
You must really like Unreal Engine 5 games.

As for my opinion, sure, the game could have had some improvements, but time passing on doesn't change anything. It's still the same game it was. I'm about to hit 100% on it and having fun.

This is just a lie. No idea why this community is so toxic and averse to criticism.

Also I'm not 'farming jesters', Steam points are worth literally nothing.

A good way to farm Jesters is to give an honest and polite feedback saying why you didn't find a game fun and they just pour in even if that wasn't your intent. lol

If you "farm jesters", you were low on oxygen at birth.

I think you're mad because I criticized a video game you have a fixation on, nothing more to it. This community simply can't handle even the lightest of criticism. Also no idea what a 'grok' is, is that some kind of personal attack?
It plays great in 2025. Nothing has changed.
