It's not a better field of view. It's just wider. IMO taking away from the immersion.
And, from reading the amount of posts like yours about other than 16:9, no. Modern games have a wide spread of support for this. Many do not support it at all. And some should not. It can interfere with what was intended to see, when the game was designed.
An OLED 48"+ is already present.
