I just tried to craft a gun. It's just in this "skeletal container" as you call it right from the start.
So answer is: You don't fix it :)
Mild spoiler:Unless you can keep it under the cover of your backpack.
Was I imagining it? I always thought they were in containers and when you equip them the container breaks off.
So placing weapons under covered containers prevent or significantly slow down degradation? Does this help in snow timefall?
All in the same skeletal container.
I meant: Covered by your backpack cover. I don't think stacking things helps.
Thanks for checking. I'm currently in the Heartman chapter/area. About to return to him from the tar delivery. The backpack cover is something I'll encounter later right? I googled it a bit to avoid spoilers and saw the "collector." I don't think i've met him yet.
You need to explore more for some of these by looking at your map and seeing the disconnected areas(with R3 for controller). A lot of these give you some nice stuff that are really helpful and the game doesn't handhold you to discover them unless you want to explore. For reference he is way earlier than heartman chapter, you can meet him as early as the chapter you reach lake knot city.
Playing in the mountains without the cover is like giving yourself hardcore mode at any difficulty above normal
yeah, it is brutal. I switched to hard and I thought replacing my gloves and all terrain constantly was part of the challenge because it's in the snow mountain region lol.
I'm late to the party, but you didn't imagine it - Sam does break the container when using a weapon for the first time, but it's a very short animation and (esp. if you're already in combat), quite easy to miss! After that, he never does it again for the same weapon model though, even if you craft a new one. I thought I imagined it in my first run too. Sorry for adding nothing of value to this discussion, I just really like the animation ^^
But, if you "build" (what's it called in game?) a weapon and just offload it, you can see the canister it's in. The animation is just a way to transmit between the way things are "stored" on Sam.
