Death Stranding 2 needs more action.
Even if the game bills itself as a "walking simulator", this simply isn't a concept that makes for a good experience. Having to stay balanced and monitor terrain elevation isn't challenging enough to avoid becoming repetitive.

The most interesting parts of the game were the Firing Range missions, the fights against Clifford Unger, and the occasional encounter with Mules or terrorists. So unless Death Stranding 2 improves on the formula and adds more challenging elements to offset the lengthy walking sections, it will sadly end up becoming another repetitive experience.

Maybe if DS2 puts more emphasis on completing deliveries in the shortest amount of time possible, it could become a more challenging experience without having to rely on combat as many other games do.

Great. Let's make it a game like all the others.
You could just go play something else, you know.

Yea I'd rather have something unique in ds2 like ds1. Not another shooter.

I'd like a bigger open world with more choices for map exploration and development.

It doesn't have to be a shooter, but there should be more challenge in missions to avoid it becoming repetitive. Other than the occasional fight with BTs or Mules/terrorists, you basically just have to occasionally balance your load and check the terrain steepness. Other than that, it's pure repetition aside from the nice scenery.

To me, the point when a game becomes purely repetitive is bad game design.

I like the walking as well as building the roads and zip lines. The scenery in this game is beautiful. The story is just bonkers! Maybe too many cinematics.

One of my favorite things about Death Stranding is that it's NOT an action game, or, at least, it's an atypical one, and I hope Kojima stays with that vision for the sequel.

I don't know, man. I have played this game a lot, not only the hours i have here on Steam, i had the normal version on Epic games and i don't think it can get any more "repetitive" than the way i play it (i'm trying to get 100% so i just make deliveries. Back and forth, back and forth all the time). It never gets tiring for me because i know that this is what the game is about. Usually when i recommend this game to people i always tell them that they have to be fine with the fact that this is how this game is, that they'll be walking back and forth for several hours and that at some point the BTs and the Mules won't be as challenging.
Like, you make a solid point, because that's what you like out of a videogame but i don't think the developers should add that just because that's what some people want out of a videogame because that is just not how THIS videogame is.
All the Metal Gear Solids will give you what you're looking for....so....idk man. Maybe just try those (or go back if you've already played them).

so just hear me out, don't play a "delivery" game on easy. Bam problem solved for you.

I played on the hardest difficulty, and most of the deliveries aren't particularly challenging, just repetitive.

Game's just not for you. Next one most likely wont be either.
And that's ok. Not every game is for everyone, and there are SO many to pick from.

This is true. The main culprit is the vehicles. They remove all challenge. A year ago I tried a full 540xLLL run with some extra rules to make it more challenging. Might be something you could try. It was: Offline, Very Hard, No roads, No vehicles, No ziplines.

Suddenly I had to actually pay attention to the weather and make sure my chilled deliveries were staying in timefall areas. With the Truck I could simply always just place chilled deliveries into it and never have to worry about them. Combine that with chilled timed deliveries and it certainly needed more planning.

Or take for example the timed deliveries from Geologist to Evo-Devo Biologist, going through BT invested area. One of the deliveries is around 3-4 minutes for the LLL rank, and obviously goign through snow without a vehicle. Definitely needed some planning and structures beforehand.

Basically the game became way better once you couldnt rely on vehicles or any online help. I was engaging with far more of the mechanics than I ever did on a vanilla playthrough.

With that said there were certainly a few deliveries that were outright impossible without vehicles, for example the Beer from Timefall Farm to Lake Knot City in 9 minutes if i'm remembering correctly.

There are people who didn't understand and said, “Why does Geoff Keighley give so much screen time to Hideo Kojima?”
Well deservedly so. And when the Death Stranding 2 long trailer came out so big in 2024, it was proof of that.

By the way, if you want music without words, search for “Chiral Girl (Death Stranding 2 Trailer)” or “Death Stranding 2 TRAILER THEME - No Dialogues SFX”. I've already listened to this song dozens of times and it even has piano sheet music:)
I don't want to fully dissect the trailer, others have done it long ago, but I want to remember what really got me.

For me, this was the best long-form gaming trailer of 2024. And it's not just because George Miller is involved, and for me at the time, "Mad Max: Fury Road" was the best film of 2015 because of the unbridled action; a trailer that mocks a series of games "God of War", where Kratos hangs Mimir in the exact same spot in the back and it seemed like “Here's the smartest Mimir ever, and why are you doing this to him?”, but in DS 2 they've done a smarter thing and this puppet looks pretty good as a companion.”
As you can see, DS 2 will also have natural realistic destruction/weather conditions and that running from an acid storm, or whatever it's called, also reminded me of Ridley Scott "Raised by Wolves."
And of course there will be an impressive arsenal of weapons, where I hope there will be not only good customization, but also various modules / dodgers. Well and also probably a big automation of cargo delivery by various transports it all also speaks about more predominance of action in comparison with the first DS and it is good if it will be so.
Because when Death Stranding is called a “Courier Simulator Game”, players are taking what's on the surface and not getting into its essence, its depth. Despite all these details, and remembering the interviews with the developers, how carefully they treat every detail, how the synergy between Kojima, we can safely say that this will be a great adventure, which is more progressive in everything and will appeal even to those who did not understand the essence. Everyone will find something for themselves.
We have both epic and Sony exclusives. Absolutely, thank you Sony that games are coming to PC.
Knowing that pre-orders can't always be trusted, I can't help but say - it's a shame there's no Death Stranding 2 pre-order button right now, at best on PC we'll see it in ~ a year.
There are a lot of different games ahead, and Death Stranding 2 is truly one of the most anticipated games of 2025.

I have only just started the game a few weeks ago. Things I want from the next one is for Kojima to resist the urge to make the first hour of the game a movie, and no snow area.

You're playing the wrong game, sorry. You can play thousands of other games to have combat, this is the navigation game.

Maybe play Metal Gear Solid V if you want a more action oriented Death Stranding.
Tbh I feel like if I never played a Kojima game then I would agree with this but since I have its a hard disagree. At this point I just want the dude to do whatever he wants, sure he limited by budget like always but I think now hes finally not limited by what hes allowed to make.

Also MGSV imo isn't much different from this outside of it being focused on stealth infiltration and not having much problem with killing. Then again I played that game Stealth with knockout pistol so that mainly why the two are pretty much to same for me.
