If you are using some unusual sound setup such as Nahimic audio or "multichannel" Dolby headphones, they are a likely cause.
Thank you for your comment. I use Asus Xonar Phoebus Sound Card. I don't use multichannel or any other apps.
I am currently using 2ch earphones and am enjoying both PS5 and PC games, but in neither game the sound of footsteps is concentrated in one direction, left or right. Character sounds are mostly centralized.
When playing DS with speakers, there is no problem with the character's directionality, such as footsteps or breathing sounds, but when playing with earphones, one side tends to be especially loud. It seems like a sound balance issue depending on the character's orientation, but in other games the sound direction is centered.
Moreover, the position of the UI sound also seems to have directionality.
At first, I thought it was a problem with the earphones and threw them away.
Not only wired earphones, but also wireless earphones have balance problems.
What I want to talk about is whether there are any special settings for 2ch headphones or earphones.
The sound quality, including monsters and environmental sounds, is excellent. No game has ever delivered such detailed sound.
So, in general, whenever a character runs on the left, all character sounds are more biased to the left, which is unfortunate. I hope this will be taken into consideration when DS2 comes out.
