If I upgrade to the director's cut do I loose the original version?
Just wondering if this replaces the original

No, I still have my original copy in my Library and installed. You may even need it I think if you import an old save, but it's worth starting new.

So I need to install the original one inorder to import the save to the director's cut?

No you'll get a separate copy of the game in your library.

Yes if you wish to import your save to the Directors Cut you need to download the Directors Cut while also having the base game downloaded, load into the base game, make sure you have no active deliveries going on, go to a terminal, go under system i believe, then choose export save data. Once you do that, load up the Directors Cut, and on the main menu it will say "Load save data from Death Stranding" or something like that, you do that, let it convert everything over and load up, then it'll load you into the game and make a "new" save data in the Directors Cut, of your old data, then you're good to uninstall the base game

For me it also imported (unlocked) all the achievements I got in the old version.

Just know, that if you port your save file to DS:DC, you cant use it on the original DS game.
