Is there seriously no way to turn off the music?
I can't stand the soundtrack. Please tell me there is some way to turn it off. Games have had the technology to mute in game music for decades.

It's just the kind of music I can't bear to listen to, so unbearably underwhelming. The game would be so much better without it. If there is any way to disable it let me know.

PROTIP telling me I should jusy enjoy the low effort music is not going to work.

This is a video game. An interactive platform. I know the old joke is Kojima just wants to make movies - but this isn't a movie. I hope you can see how describing it as one or comparing it to one is quite absurd. I would belabour the point but I can't tell if you're being genuinely serious with this train of thought.
Doesn't matter what you think a game should do, since you aren't the one who made the game. Kojima/the dev decides. They decided to make the soundtrack during missions not skippable. You can dislike the "artistic" notion of this all your want, but if you don't like it/hate the music so much, there is always the option to mute/turn off your speakers/volume for a few minutes, until it stops.

I would agree with others that it's only during certain story mission trigger points that the "songs" part of the soundtrack plays. And sometimes its over before you finish the mission, depending on if you wander much. You can play/explore/mess around for hours and hours and not hear a single song.

It's not really if the music is good or not, I don't like most of them but Kojima plays with ALL senses. you won't hear your favorite song Despacito when you're transporting your mother's corpse to the incinerator man come on of course they will put something that fits the vibe. Also bad news for you the lead singer of Low Roar passed away so expect more of those songs in DS2.

I don't want to hear any music if I have the choice. I'll play music if I want to, but why would I want to listen to this game's awful soundtrack?

I think if you have to turn off your speakers because the devs were too lazy to include an audio slider that's quite a damning indictment.

Nice "movie" where you need to see the soundrack name/author all the time while its playing. Very immersive! :steamfacepalm:

Until someone mods the game to fix it I just won't play it I guess.

Your loss. This isn't an airport, you don't have to report your departure, ya know.

My man what is it with people in this thread and their analogies. This isn't an airport you're right. It's a discussion forum for a video game which we are discussing.

The problem isn't about people stating opinions, it's more about people stating an opinion as a fact for everybody else, then repeating it constantly as if people are going to be persuaded differently.

bruh the guy isn't even wrong here, it's really dumb of people to say "kojima don't want to make game he want to make movie and in movie you can't stop song" as an excuse.

not being able to cut all music from the game is dumb, i've seen RHYTHM games with a volume slider that let's you turn the music off.

but he is also being a bit childish at the same time because the music is not playing all of the time anyway so just play the game and don't pay attention to the music.

anyway that's all, i hope y'all are having a great day too. :lario:

Pretty much this. Nobody is going to persuade me that it's just not a problem for a game to force you to listen to music in 2024. The fact people are even trying is baffling to me, but people will defend anything I guess.

Honestly I understand your point. I dunno why everyone is being so weirdly combative. I like the music, I actually wish it played more, but I don't think it's unreasonable for someone to want to play differently, or try to experience a different level of personal immersion by lowering it. Like just having landscape/foot sounds only (to be fair, this is what you hear most of the time).

Sure, Kojima likes his movie games, I dunno what that has to do with removing player choice for sounds, and I don't understand people defending this like they're all his best friends. It's cool that a lot of us like the music, but someone is allowed to not want to hear it? What enhances our experience might not enhance theirs.

And no, people don't have to report their departures, but it's a thread made by OP. He can vent in it if he wants to, I dunno why people are getting so pressed about someone who is just frustrated they don't have an OPTION in a video game for a music slider.

Anyway OP, no, you cannot lower music. Yes it sucks. But honestly they really don't last long and if it bothers you that much just mute or find a way to push through those sections. I doubt anyone is going to make a mod for this after all this time.

I get it. I've beaten this game a dozen times over on PS4. I would rather turn on a podcast. I don't understand why everyone is being combative about the idea of turning off the soundtrack
