Please explain me the Advantages of Multiplayer
hey community.

I know DS is a singleplayer game, with kinda multiplayer (but without nagging players). but what is the advantage of not playing DS solo only? I simply dont get the multiplayer part in death stranding.

any help or explanation is really appreciated.

Once you connect an area to the "chiral network" you will start seeing structures and things that other players have built. So someone might place a ladder down somewhere and it could appear in your world. It gets enough likes from players and it stays, if it doesn't it will fade away.

You can play offline but I think it's fun to set up things that I know will help other people, makes it feel a little less lonely and it ties into the story loosely. You will be in a bind at some point and be thanking that player that left you a rope to climb or a bridge to cross!

It's a very unintrusive mode but if you don't like it you can turn it off and just have the world filled with only things that you build.

Building the highways takes a lot of resources, occasionally online players will contribute to it. Building a zipline network solo can use up almost all of your bandwidth, online structures can supplement it allowing you to still build other structures.

no no, I love that multiplayer mode. hideo is a genius! he invented a multiplayer without disturbing players. I love it! I just wanted to know, how it works. that part was not clear to me. tbh, I still have questions. but @Sheperd explained it very good.

If you play offline I am not sure you get the Ranked challenges in the Gun Range. This can be a good source of materials.

Likes are not currency as you cannot use them in any meaningful transaction. They, likes, are a metric of how connected to the game world you are. If you look at your deliveries when you deliver to a prepper/waystation/distro centre, you are building a level of connection with a possibility of a "5 star" connection. The stronger the connection with each prepper, the more stuff you can build in their section of the Chiral Network.

The more likes = better relationships = better connections = more facilities and structures YOU can build on that section of the Chiral Network.

Likes also show other players that you have walked their path, used their gear.

its called world persistence but with multiplayer , you can see others players affect the world but you not see them (well sort of , they apear during fights to help you but not actualy)

i think its fun way to have SP game , but still have it community driven , had fun time rushing roads and towers , playing basicly "factorio" in it

was getting ridicules amount of likes for it

On a meta level- it's a commentary on dopamine release and social media, but that's way beyond the scope of this conversation.

thx for all your help. it is useful to me. but Im left with one question. will death stranding be still fun when there are no more other players playing the game or when the servers of DS get shut down? Idk if it will be the same experience. or being playable at all still.

It'll probably still be kinda fun, but players obviously will have to build everything and gather a lot of resources to do so.. it'll slow down everything.
