The narrative gets cringe quickly. I got so sick and tired of Mads daddy-scenes but they kept on coming...
It's good in a creative, thought-experiment kind of way. It even pulls itself together functionally despite having a bunch of disjointed parts. It's a testament to bringing one man's shroom-induced vision to life. It's also grindy, long-winded, boring, ridiculous and cheesy. I dropped it around 15 hours in.
Norman Reedus is pretty fantastic, though.
sure the story, actors, and game world are all top notch and intriguing, but the reason I'm here is gameplay
I don't see myself finishing it. If I get too hooked up on the plot I'll watch the cutscenes on youtube.
By the way, I don't get the point of filling the game with Hollywood actors. Like that does nothing for me whatsoever, if anything it's a distraction. Looks like Kojima wanted to make a movie but ended up making it into a game by accident.
Hideo Kojima being the game director in general. Love his stories in his creations, Metal Gear series, Silent Hill, etc..The story telling is just amazing to me.
With some meaningfull obstructions for us to conquere like the demons in our head and the spirit to help others to deliver their needs, it's a good fight against the odds.
The scenery we wander in and the majestic of being aware of our surroundings makes this wonderfull experiance top notch.
basically the same question.
have watched around 3+ hours of visually stunning, atmospheric cutscenes, actors, voicing and music are all theatrical and graphics better than real life, just barely sipping my pc resources to function.
but where's the actual game here? got the video part. really got it lol. 3+ hours of it.
there's some pretty disgusting imagery in the 'game' though (using that term loosely.)
its free on epic, and i think its perfectly natural to ask why people think the game is good.
I personally think a pizza delivery simulator, despite how pretty and dressed up it is, is pretty bad, for a game.
you think its good, but can't explain why? what's so difficult about that?
interesting, but i haven't seen a single weapon in 3 hours. when do the weapons unlock? chapter 10? not sure i'll make it lol.
I'll help you out. It's because of an overwhelmingly annoying tendency of some people to insist that their opinions are beyond reproach. If they don't like the game, they'll go out of their way to ensure that nobody else does, either.
no problem. enjoy your forum pvp.
me, i'll wait to hear some answers or spoilers on this thing.
This is not expressing an opinion. This is telling other people what the game is going to be for them.
If you don't know the difference, you never will.

Its an "unwindy game", aka "a game to unwind". Just because its not a constant firework of action and bossfights doesnt mean its bad game per se, it just means that its not the kind of game for you if you are looking for said action-loaded gameplay.
I would say the game is less goal-oriented and more about "experiencing the world / existing in it", more akin to f.e. Journey, Flower and Abzu.
fair enough. i'll give it a watch.
i'm guessing there's just not enough action for me. oh well.
fwiw i still think its probably the most visually stunning game and one of the most efficiently coded games i've ever seen come out of the last few years. they really used the right structures where they needed to.
