Seems Lower Framerate in Director's Cut is True.
In the OG version, my game ran pretty much locked at 120FPS with everything at Max and DLSS set to Quality on my RTX 2080 Ti and 3700X. In the Director's Cut I'm averaging around 100 to 107FPS now. Granted, not exactly a deal breaker, 107FPS is more than enough for this type of game but I find it strange none the less. Anybody have any idea why this might be the case? Game seems visually identical to me, hopefully they can iron this out in a hotfix.

Are you playing at Max settings or Default? Framerate difference between the two? What are your specs? A little more information might be helpful.

My game is running just fine, same as it was before the DC Maybe a tiny bit better.

NO I did NOT import my OG save file, I wanted to start a fresh game.

Max settings NO DLSS
150FPS @ The shooting range (a common area where we would be able to easily compare performances)
110FPS inside the Distribution Center West of Capital Knot City
105FPS Running around out side the Distribution Center West of Capital Knot City

Samsung CHG90 3840x1080 32:9

AMD Ryzen 9 3900x @4.7Ghz
Nvidia RTX 2080Ti @2.1Ghz
32 GB DDR4 @3600Mhz
Samsung PCIe3 NVMe SSD 970Pro / Samsung 860Evo
Custom EK W.Loop 1200mm Rad space

Window's 11
Nvidia driver version 511.23

I see, thanks for the info.

Digital Foundry said Director's Cut version changes the game's level geometry and draw distances. From their test, on average, Director's Cut version is 6% slower than Original version.

Here is a DF's video comparing some geometry changes between Director's Cut version and Original version (at 5:47 minute): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nN4XMlzlc4&t=347s

And this is their video showing performance differences (at 1:33 minute): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMcjTChY2Tw&t=93s

Interesting, I had assumed they only upgraded the water visuals slightly. Seems like we got a bigger graphical upgrade than expected, thanks for the info.

Digital Foundary is so stupidly annoying. All they concluded was better GPU = better performance. I didn't need 14 minutes of bs stats to figure that out.

the 1st video was made in 2021 and it measures only the Ps4/Ps5 performance, so it's irrelevant.
the 2nd video was made in 2022 and discusses the 4 sec differences in boot times between Ps5 and PC, and what GPU most closely resembles the Ps5 performance.

2 pointless videos.

Digital Foundary are the best.

Stop cappin'.

I didn't know that there were legit minor improvements like that! That's awesome! :D

For the type of game this is, and the performance is offering , its a joke of coding and optimization , game is purely static terrain textures some static structures , a vastly mostly empty world, minimal dynamics in terms of clothing ,weather ,wind , physics yet the framerate and utilization is tanked as you are playing cyberpunk at 4k while playing deathstranding at 1080p , its honestly a joke

The issue is relevant for owners of not very powerful CPUs. For example start location screenshots on OCed AMD FX8300 + 1070 on the same graphic options (max preset, then no DoF, no motion blur, no CAS/FSR/Scale image, no VSync, TAA enabled):

Old version:

DC version:

Even rounding it will be 70 vs 50

I think this is a DLSS problem.
I also have strong performance problems and during a review I noticed that DLSS is not present at all in the graphics options in the game!
In my game menu the selection item DLSS is missing completely - error? I thought.

If you now go to the installation folder (Example: C:\Steam\steamapps\common\DEATH STRANDING DIRECTORS CUT) you see the file "Settings", open it with Notepad.
At the very bottom is then:
"nvidia_dlss" "1" and
"nvidia_dlss_quality" "2"

Here, as I have written, numbers must be at the end (0=off / 1=switched on / 2=quality).
Simply replace the zeros with the numbers and then DLSS is active again. Save file after modification.

Now the game runs very smoothly and looks exactly like the native resolution, only with more FPS.
I hope this helps

Even though, it shouldn't be that bad. It's not even really using my hardware, I don't know what's happening wuth this game.

Here's a comparison between DC and the original version. Both at the exactly same place.
