Copy all the Save folders with checkpoint.dat data out of C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\KojimaProductions\DeathStranding\[number]
Paste them into the following directory and overwrite the empty save folders
C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\KojimaProductions\DeathStrandingDC\[same number]
Then open DSDC and do not try to import save, just do a normal load saved game and all your prior saves should be there. Just load your most recent one and it will upgrade whatever it needs to when it opens the file.
this works, but it doesnt carry over achievements
Something about it needing to be on the same account (I played the original on Game Pass not Steam)
But after playing the DC for a bit I noticed things like the valve you get as a mission reward for returning a companion cube which would explain a lack of compatibility although I don't recall ever seeing a MS equivalent in the original game, however as this is a same account requirement I think this is more aimed at stopping people from uploading other people's save data
My internet connection is really slow but it's enough to run GFNow in 720p so i could upload saves to cloud in DS lmao
Don't directly copy the old save to DC. I did that and the game somehow worked but I wasn't able to unlock the catapult and the buddy bot.
In DC you normally unlock the catapult in chapter 5, and after that you get a quest where you can unlock the buddy bot. If you manually import an endgame save from the original game by copy paste the unlock will never trigger.
And besides that all your online co-op players in your old save will be shown as "unknown" in DC.
I dont play it through steam though ..
It would be nice if the game could get a better multiplayer, so that you can meet up with other players, get them with you on the mission and do harder stuff, maybe raid Mule´s bases and stuff like that together ..
Im kinda the Security guy that love to fight, i took down the whole mule base and stole their truck for my ware´s .. i just wish that i could have kept it and repair it .. oh well
