Eng vs. Japanese Voiceover

From someone that can speak both the JP VO is... much better. The English VO is pretty bad. It's a literal interpretation of the text and sound stilted and weird A.F. The Japanese VO at least has some nuance and sounds more natural. It kind of sucks because the English VO actors aren't bad, they're just reading off this really forced script word for word and it suffers for it.

Yeah of course. No dubbed anime or Japanese game will be complete without some pretentious knob claiming how the Japanese voice over is much better.

It's not a literal interpretation of the text though, it's a massive rewrite that ♥♥♥♥♥ over several characters and changes things for nonsensical reasons or to appeal to american sensibilities (like removing derogatory usage of the word woman and scenes regarding misogynistic characters being rewritten). Unless you're telling me they redubbed and rewrote the damn thing to be accurate after all the complaining.
Every other language is more accurate to the original script, hell, spanish tl is the most accurate.

question, did they change the subtitles for Corporate sensibilities too? Or are the Japanese VO with English subtitles safe?

Yeah, they did, ENG subtitles are just the english script.

ugh.... Not sure if I will buy this game then. If people doing the localizing cannot keep the spirit, intent, and context of the original, then they are not localizing, they are propagandizing.

Case in point, even though I liked the YuYuHakusho dubs when I was a kid, the sub version makes Kuwobara a much more interesting character though the delivery of the Dub of Kuwobara was pretty good.

In this case both JP and ENG voices sound flat to me.
English voices are especially bored sounding but at least the names are pronounced correctly, so I'm sticking with it.

I always hope to see more Square Enix games getting fan translation patches that undo all the woke ESG localization damage. So much is lost just to appease a crowd of people who hardly exist but are extremely loud and certainly don't buy the games.

Such a shame they keep doing this.

I mean, I haven't heard an english voice over better than the japanese one, be it anime or games.

Then again, I believe watching something with non original dubs is blasmephy (doesn't matter the language)

Meh i think both are kinda dull... Or maybe thats just me. I mean its because of the sprite animation, music and the story?

FF Tactics only have those dot sound effects when the sprites are speaking but because of the story and the pacing I enjoyed it more (it also helps that the background music for FF tactics conveys the mood, from solemn, exciting, sad) - so i dont really need the voice acting. Even Tactics Ogre: Lets Cling Together, I was really pump up with the story without the voice acting.

I dont get it here in Triangle Strategy. The story is passable? (I am just 10 hours in so maybe it will be better when i go on) -

Example: I like Ramza's and Denam's underdog story. Here Serenoa has a good start from his life so I don't feel as endeared to him. I would like it more if Frederica was the Main Character since she was sold off to marriage, being 2nd class citizen and has a timid personality (I would rather see her overcome challenges compared to Serenoa honestly)

I don't really think the JP voices are all that amazing, but the English is definitely worse. I don't think it's the script's fault, however. The script is not bad, it's just the acting is of random quality. Some characters sound fine, some feel like they had no direction but could have been good, and some are just plain bad, which makes the whole thing sound bad... especially when it's some of the main characters sounding awful lol.
