This game would have been so much better without the voting system!
The voting system is a disaster! It's not just annoying, but it also takes away from the player the feeling of being able to decide the course of the story. It's not me who's making these decisions, it's my companions! I'm not even given a coin! And no, being able to change other peoples' minds doesn't make it any better. It also feels like a way for Serenoa to escape from the responsibility of making decisions. "We need to take a decision on this. Serenoa, what do we do?" "Let's take out the Scales of Conviction, so I don't have to actually take on the responsibilities that come with my position!"
It's a dreadful system! Without it, this would have been a great game! With it, it's a good, but very flawed game.

Actually, I take back that the game would be great without the voting system. Some of the story bits are too dumb for that! Chapter 12, In the Still of Night is embarrassing!
I'm not going to spoil anything, but why would revealing "that" help with anything?! That'd actually be even more reason for Hyzant to kill them!
Also, the fact that they're dancing around the obvious "big reveal" of what they found in the mine is just ridiculous!

By the way, what do they even need salt for?! Why is it supposed to be so important? It's not for conserving food, because, when Corentin discovered ice that doesn't melt, they treated that as a joke, basically, when that would actually be far superior for conserving food. So what do they need salt for? Are they seriously waging all these wars because they want to use salt on their food recipes?!

Salt in the game equals power. Whenever it be it's knowledge for applications like keeping food from perishing, explosives or more uses, it is the main factor for the factions struggles and conflicts. In addition it works as the currency of the kingdoms. To my understanding, Norzalia either lacks or is very far away from Oceans, making salt even more precious.

As for the voting system, is perfect. You can always take the choice you want even if you lack points if you are smart enough about dialogue and voting. The only exception is the Golden Route, which is meant to be played in New Game + anyways. As for Hyzant I won't spoil it, but if you go the other route you would get it. A lot of the twist and big reveals are actually real hard to predict unless you are playing with a guide, and after you beat the game once you understand there is a lot, A LOT, of lore that requires playing multiple routes to even attempt to understand it.

Also Serenoa never escapes decisions or responsibilities, house Wolfort is based on "Loyalty" and "Retainers" hence their system is voting. Is why the voting is important, and when a lot of the power dynamic goes into Fredrerika, Benedict and Roland, what is Serenoa suppose to do? "I do as I please" ok then everyone leaves and oops no game without army. Triangle Strategy is about the alignments of interest and how intricate politics work in its world. You can be like "I hate Aesfrost! ughh!!!" and then "oh man I can ally with them or bite the dust hmmm hmmm" so it is interesting how it works as a narrative.

Like I previously said, there are multiple instances where other party members ask Serenoa what they're going to do and he decides to bring out the scales. There's no expectation from his companions that he does, he just does it. Also, if you played the golden path, you should know that at some point he doesn't use it and his companions accept his decision anyway.
Also, whether the characters would always accept his decisions or not is irrelevant to the fact that the voting system removes players' agency. An in-game justification (whether real or presumed) is irrelevant when considering the external outcome of its implementation. Supposing that it's true (there's nothing that actually proves it, but let's suppose that there is), that's simply a problem created by the developers.
Next time create a world where the supposed leader of your team can actually take meaningful decisions during the game and not just at the end!
By the way, this is a world with a political system that takes inspiration from medieval Europe. Its political system is based on Lords and Kings and I'm supposed to believe that my vassals/allies would not follow my decisions?!

Regarding salt, you just repeated what the game says about it. That doesn't make it any better. None of the presumed uses of salt are actually important enough to justify the importance that the story and the game's world give to it.
Like I said, for example, Corentin's discovery of ice that never melts would actually be far superior to salt for its most important (supposedly) use.

Salt is literally essential to all living things. Everything from medicine to food needs salt.

Yeah - do not like this system at all. I just loaded and tried again just wasted my time and was not interesting or fun.

None of these characters have any power. Frederica is basically exiled from Aesfrost, Benedict is Seranoa's advisor, and Roland is being hunted. Seranoa is supposed to be leading Wolfort but instead of making a single decision he's like "IDK guys, bring out the scales!".
