I don't think that's necessarily the case, no. It's about playing the game by looking down at it, whatever happens around the "virtual game board" is of no consequence. What changes here is the ability to look at it from any angle. It's not like you do anything else that amounts to gameplay meaningfully by having your living room around the game world.
If anything, I'd say it's more immersion breaking. I can understand doing that for pure board game type games like Demeo, where it's designed to imitate pieces in a borad game, etc. But here it isn't the case.
So +1 from me
especially as valve decard is rumoured to come next year and we have the new htc headset also.
