How does this compare to Tactic ogre reborn?
Hello everyone. I just played tactic ogre reborn and am looking for a similar game. How does this compare story wise and gameplay wise.

I really liked the story in tactic ogre but kinda got bored towards the end as it kind of felt too grindy and slow on both my playthrough there. Overall though I love it.

Tactics Ogre has way more battles, but I preferred Triangle Strategy a lot more. There is no grinding in Triangle Strategy really because outside of the main story, you only have some mock battles you can do at your camp and well once you do them once or twice you'll probably never revisit them.

How is the RPG aspect of Triangle? is the story good? also have you played Sea of Stars? I just finished Chrono Trigger and people said Sea of Stars is like chrono trigger.

Characters in Triangle Strategy have set skills you can learn and each are unique. They also have Weapon and Class upgrades to perform once you get to certain levels or requirements.

The story has several different routes you can pick from at specific points but most of them end up in nearly the same point up until the end in which case there are 4 possible endings to get. If you plan to max level and unlock all characters, you'll need to actually play through the game several times with NG+ as some character unlocks are based on what routes you took, etc.

Sea of Stars I have completed. I had a blast with it as well.

Between the two which would you recommend first. Sea of Stars or Triangle?

Depends on what you're in the mood for. One is tactical (moving around the battle field) while the other is regular turn-based but with some timed blocks and hits.

People often cite Chrono Trigger when talking about Sea of Stars, but it takes just as much homage from Super Mario RPG in my opinion.

For me, I very much enjoyed my time with both of them.

I felt the same way about Tactics end game. Palace of the dead is a slog, and dont want to do that for 100 levels. I might later playthrough but thats where I stopped.

As for story, I do like story of Tactics Ogre and its mature setting. Triangle strategy is the same as well in terms of mature story.

I am retrying to play Fire Emblem engage atm and let me tell you, its a struggle because the gameplay is not as good as Tactics or Triangle Strategy AND the story sucks.

I used to love Fire Emblem series but its falling behind of even classics like Tactics, anyways enough of Fire Emblem.

The gameplay is very much the same like any other tactics game, but I feel Tactics takes the edge.

Why? You can recruit so many different factions/classes etc. On top of that there are dragons, beasts and monsters to tame each with their own elements, so it gives you more options. That said, do those options really matter if you have the best element dragon in the game? No, but the choice is there.

Loot is awesome in both games.

I would give Tactics Ogre an 8.5, Triangle Strategy 7.9.

Both are very fun games, and Triangle Strategy requires less grinding at least on first playthrough.

Then how about Hoshigami?
Does it similar to both?
Because I'm thinking of buying them
Well, tactics ogre *is* the crown jewel of the tactical strategy RPG genre after all.....

Personally I prefer Sea of Stars, Triangle Strategy, and Tactics Ogre Reborn over Star Ocean 2.

Sea of Stars over Star Ocean 2, you're certainly the minority but it's okay, everyone has different taste.
bandwagon fallacy son, sit down

I found Triangle Strategy to be way superior to Tactics Ogre Reborn; story in both titles is good, but Triangle Strategy's gameplay is markedly better, with more creative classes and skills, better use of terrain, more creative missions, ... Tactics Ogre has more content, but lower quality; Triangle Strategy has enough for 150h+ though, plenty enough.

Triangle strategy content may seem more polished, but upon closer inspection the content of tactics ogre is even more polished. Like that of an important royal jewel hence its reputation as "the crown jewel of tactical jrpgs"
