Are the mouse & keyboard controls bad?

I can't play with a controller so I need to know if the M+KB controls are terrible like I've heard they are?

Also, is the game locked to 60 FPS?

Since this topic was resurrected, I have since bought, played and almost completed the game and have had very few issues with mouse and keyboard controls.

The main problem is elevation, in some maps it is actually impossible to control units when they are at an elevated position because the game keeps selecting adjacent cells.

To get around this I have a gamepad plugged in to use in these situations. It doesn't happen very often though.

Since I also asked this, the game can be unlocked to run at 120 FPS and it works fine. You can find out how to do this by googling it.

Everyone's mileage may vary, but for me I could not for the life of me figure out how to use K/BM in the tactical battles. No trouble navigating menus and all the cut scene stuff.

There's a thread also where someone was complaining about not being able to get it to work based on elevation of the target (i.e. archers up on top of a bridge as an example).

Net: This is a pretty typical example of a badly done console port.

Just out of curiosity, why can you not use a controller?

I have repetitive strain injuries that prevent me from using a controller without experiencing extreme discomfort after an hour or so.

Gotcha. Well, at least in my experience this one isn't a workable K/BM game.

You might want to check in at the steam forum for Tactics Ogre: Reborn and see what the hive mind is saying about the job Enix did on implementing K/BM on that one.

With the caveat of course that Enix has a reputation for not doing this well.

Yosharian, just wanted to follow up and let you know I watched hour long pretty in depth video on Tactics Ogre: Reborn and ran across some discussion on it, sounds like the K/BM implementation for it is solid.

Ok but isn't the story basically non-existent in that game? The story of Triangle Story seemed interesting. Tactics Ogre also looks pretty dated compared to TS.

Non-existent is probably a bit harsh, but I would agree it's not as much of a focus as it is in Triangle Strategy.

From what I've read and watched on Tactics it sounds like a solid update, not just a cash grab remake. Might see for yourself from these videos on it:

If story is your thing the game you might also want to check out that just released is Persona 5 Royal. You need to really be into the anime thing though to get into this one (I mostly just tolerate anime at best).

Oh boy, you don't need to tell me about Persona 5! I played it on the PS4, am looking forward to picking it up on PC... when it's on sale though, ain't paying full price for it.

Yep, we're on same page on the price thing. I've got it on my wish list along with Tactics Ogre: Reborn (never played any Persona game btw, all the glowing reviews got me interested).

I'll get them both on sale down the road, meanwhile I'm headed back to my strategy roots with the imminent release of Victoria 3 that'll keep me busy for awhile.

Oh you are in for a treat man. P5 is one of the best JRPGs ever made.

But yeah I am just looking for something to scratch that JRPG itch right now, that won't break the bank.

Though I've seen better, I've also seen worse KB/M.

It's not unplayable at all (I can't use a controller either), though it might try your patience at times.

I haven't even had a battle I moved the mouse around the map and I'm going to controller the heck with that IT FEELS BAD!

update:had the first battle the and the camera controls are terrible. Play m&k at your own risk.

I have no problem with the controls but I just use pure keyboard (WASD + arrow keys) in battles and don't try using mouse.
