Optimization
This game is clearly not ready.. as much as i hate to say it, it truly isnt ready. been playing for 36 minutes and i love the game, being a huge alien fan this is probably one of my favorite alien games out there but the optimization for it is just.. horrible to say the least, the game crashes every now and then, only way to fix it for me is to restart my pc when it starts to stutter, which ruins the game experience and emersion, my pc is able to run larger games than this no problem and yet this game it just cant- i really hope this game gets more optimization before the quest release since if it cant run on pc, it will never run on quest, theres just no way. other than that its an amazing game, actually got my heart beating which most horror games arent able to do for me, i suggest lowering the minimum system requirements as much as possible, i have a AMD ryzen 5 7600x 6-core processor and it has run far more impacting vr games than this. so like i said this game is not ready for the community and i suggest working on this as much as possible. thank you for an amazing game though

If you're close to the min specs, you should run it at 120hz with ASW or SSW always on. It's a much better experience than trying to hit 90hz since you can turn up all the graphics settings and make the game look sharp and clear.

If you're using SSW with Virtual Desktop, the artifacting is actually pretty minimal. It's a worthy trade off.

The game was designed around hitting 60hz (with reprojection) in the PSVR2 and it shows. It doesn't scale to 90hz very well.

I've got a 7800X3D, RTX 4090, and 32GB of RAM. I'm playing using Virtual Desktop and I've cranked the graphics to Ultra, pixel density to 1.0, and have the game set to 90fps. Virtual Desktop settings are set to 90fps and graphics set to Godlike.

Overall this game doesn't look very good. I mean, it looks fine but it doesn't look great. I've only encountered a few areas where it stuttered, but most of the time it holds up to 90fps. I was disappointed that even with the graphics cranked to ultra it still just looks 'fine'. This game could have used a few more months in the oven. After 2-3 patches this game is going to be so good.

Graphics aside, I'm enjoying this game a lot. The inventory system is only annoying when I'm trying to pick something off of the ground, otherwise I find I'm grabbing what I wanted.

I'll be using a Quest 2 @ 72hz. I assume it will be fine if I can hit half of that and let reprojection take over. I don't suffer from motion sickness. We'll see.

I tried your suggestion and the performance was even worse tbh. Fps was better but stutters were frequent and awful.

Add -dx11 to the shortcut.

I guess I have low expectations. It's running well enough on medium settings - so far. Then again, I do recall playing the original AVP on the Jaguar at 20 fps. This is incredibly mediocre compared to the MotherVR mod for Isolation. It just makes me want to play that again, honestly.

AVP was not 20fps game on Jag. It was between 10-15 and its gameplay was designed for it. Isolation does not run on UE5 and is not as action heavy.

Not sure if this applies to you, but figured others would like to know.
now i know why even my 4090 has issues running the game this makes sense
thanks for the info

60 fps in vr is a bit motion sickness inducing. Ideally if you can reach solid 45 fps you could try using Virtual Desktop Synchronous Spacewarp to reach fake 90.

The developers pushed an update a few minutes ago that resolves the performance/stuttering issue with VDXR and Virtual Desktop btw. I recommend giving it a try.

If some people want to know it doesnt work on windows mixed reality platform. You only get black screen.

А friend let me try the game from his account, and it was running sooo badly on my RTX 3070 that it was practically unplayable. I played for about 20–30 minutes, just enough to know I’d skip purchasing it for sure. I was playing on Medium settings, and the graphics were awful.

I don’t know, but everything was so blurry—especially objects that weren’t close to me. The anti-aliasing was garbage, and everything looked so jagged and rough.
There was also a significant delay that I’ve never experienced in other games I’ve played.

The alien’s movements were kind of weird and glitchy at times.

And keep in mind, all of this was from just half an hour of gameplay...
