Optimization
This game is clearly not ready.. as much as i hate to say it, it truly isnt ready. been playing for 36 minutes and i love the game, being a huge alien fan this is probably one of my favorite alien games out there but the optimization for it is just.. horrible to say the least, the game crashes every now and then, only way to fix it for me is to restart my pc when it starts to stutter, which ruins the game experience and emersion, my pc is able to run larger games than this no problem and yet this game it just cant- i really hope this game gets more optimization before the quest release since if it cant run on pc, it will never run on quest, theres just no way. other than that its an amazing game, actually got my heart beating which most horror games arent able to do for me, i suggest lowering the minimum system requirements as much as possible, i have a AMD ryzen 5 7600x 6-core processor and it has run far more impacting vr games than this. so like i said this game is not ready for the community and i suggest working on this as much as possible. thank you for an amazing game though

I mean I didn't recommend the game for a variety of reasons but performance for me was fine.

RTX 3070, 8700k cpu, 32 gb ram, NvmE install.

I mean, my cpu is quite dated and I still was getting solid FPS and it never crashed once.

My 4070 is struggling for sure. Just at 1 pixel density and high settings I can't hit 72.

So weird that my 3070 can handle it but a 4070 can't. Your drivers are up to date, how are you playing it like what headset/method? How much ram do you have and what is your CPU? Is the game on an SSD at least?

Is there any upscaling option like DLSS?

There are currently performance issues with using Virtual Desktop for this game. Guy Godin is aware and him and his team are currently investigating it.

Not sure if this applies to you, but figured others would like to know.

This is good to hear speaking as someone with a 3070ti laptop. Are you experiencing any reprojection? Also, can you provide any recommendations for optimization (lowered settings, etc)?

I'm getting the impression that a number of games using UE5 have this performance issue - UE5 seems to need a lot more power than UE4 did. So I had my concerns about them using UE5, and I'm finding movement a bit janky/stuttery on my RTX 4080 at whatever the default settings are.

I have a 4080 Super with a AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 8-Core Processor, using the Quest 3, and VD. For some reason trying to run the game with Open-XR is worst then native Steam VR. it seems like its some kind of optimization flaw. Hopefully Guy Godin can help us with this.

No I was wrong. So very wrong.

IT was okay at first but once I got a bit further into the game it went to complete ♥♥♥♥.

I was playing on low-medium with only textured and anti aliasing turned up above medium because they don't hit FPS that hard; and later on no matter the settings FPS tanked to as low as single digits for periods and resolution even on cable connection dropped till the game looked like OG doom visually.

Just awful. Unplayable.

Good to know. I'll either pass on the game or be ready to refund. I have a sneaky suspicion that Survios didn't bother optimizing because most of the market is devoted to standalone and PSVR2.

Thanks for the heads up. At least there are countless other games to play.

The game itself is like.....a solid 7/10 if it didn't run like total ass, had it's bugs/smaller issues fixed, and if they hadn't lead with really gross marketing strategies/gone radio silent after launch.

Like if you have some monsterous 4090 beast of a PC that can brute force the game, I recommend it. Even if it's just part 1, even if it's janky/buggy, it's still a fun enough game.

Yeah, they didn't bother catering towards PCVR because it makes more economic sense for them to devote more resources to standalone and PSVR2, both of which are comparatively cheap.

I am running on a laptop with a 3050/16gb and 64 gm ram I have started with everything on medium and it runs fine so far I fell like I can up everything just havn't had time to play with settings and play the game yet I wanted to play a bit first.

If it won't run on the things people are trying to run it on; I have doubts about it running on like the quest 3 snapdragon processor.

You're probably right though; just more in regards to PSVR2. I think that's what they bet all their money on because they have zero presence anywhere on the PC version and only ever show/test/sponsor PSVR2 videos.
