Surley this is false advertising and predatory marketing?

The game has had no advertisement being broken up into parts and from everything I have read so far Its not long popped up on the official steam page that it will be a episodic/part series game?

This is pretty rough as i'm sure a large percentage of the pre-orders was made with none of this being common knowledge.

The reason this is not cool is that you are now actively letting your customers know that you have done (or likely done) one of the following.

- Ran out of time/money or poorly managed time and the game was not fully completed and last min has now been shipped as some multipart gimmick.

- The game was originally designed this way and they knew from the get go they was building it like this which is arguably worse since you let customers pre-order and changed the understanding of the product (part of one not a complete one)

End of the day no one wants to hear that what they have been looking forward to pre-ordered is going to cost even more just to play the full thing you originally pre-ordered.

Videos are popping up everywhere saying similar things.

Be interesting to hear what the publisher/development team have to say about this to the people who are very concerned about how this has been done.

Exactly. I dont mind a game series but announce it will be a series. The devs didn't decide this just a few hours before launch, they knew what they were doing. I cancelled my order, not gonna play. They should have been honest and I would have bought both parts full price, but not like this. I'll spend my money elsewhere.

Yeah, the title on the store page doesn't even have the "part one" subtitle. It's only in the description and the fact we're finding out at launch feels super icky. Especially for a $40 game. The max this game should be if it's only about 7 hours and the first half of a story is $30.

They also raised the price last moment too.

They have also been radio silent on all the obvious critisism so they knew they would get backlash for it and did it all anyways. The "deluxe" edition is the most forced thing I've seen, it has pretty much nothing and mostly just costs more for the sake of it just about.

I doubt it was a dev move, it sounds like they have disgustingly predatory upper management/share holders who not only forced all this but probably told them to shut their mouth about it or get fired.

There is definitely some nonsense at work here at any rate.

This is what I mean, is this honestly ok to be left unchecked? its one thing to hold back things for DLC for extra cash flow but actually being like last min before release "oh btw guys this is only part 1 if you want the full game you and story you gotta pay same amount again when its done ..."

Its quite savage and I would go as far as to saying false and purposefully misleading advertising.

It should be made fundamentally clear if a game or product is not going to be a complete experience for what you are paying before you are allowed to part with cash.

Nobody has confirmed that Part 2 will cost extra. It is certainly deliberately misleading advertising though 😞

Actually if you look at the store page you will see that it does in fact say that it is Part 1 of a series of games.

That's because they snuck it in a few hours ago without telling us, probably in the attempt to not get a lawsuit by someone for false advertising.

Sadly what are the chances that it will be though? Survios have not been making the right decisions recently have they? 😞

As I have mentioned before, it's not the fact that it's in 2 parts that bothers me, it's the fact that they have not officially told it to us & we only found out today by shocked reviewers.

The Last of Us has a Part 1 and Part 2 but I don't see anyone criticising that. The fact no one has beaten the game yet but is upset about this being part 1 is so childish. Beat the game first then we can have this discussion.

Yes, but The Last of Us Parts 1 and 2 both have separate stories and conclusions and they were made years apart.

We only found out about this today by reviewers on YouTube. Also there are suggestions/hints online that this game will stop after only 4-6hrs on a climax half way through the story and we have to buy Part 2 for the conclusion.

But I agree, even though I'm not impressed with what Survios has done, without playing the game yet I am not going judge them fully yet. As I said previously to people who screaming that they were going to just get a refund was to at least play the first 2hrs first in accordance to Steams refund policy and then decide.

The last of Us part 1 is the new name. But the game was first release on ps3 as The Last Of Us, because it was suppose to be only one game, and the ending prouve it. You don't have to play TLOU 2 if you don't want.
This is not the same at ALL.

Many of them wanted it for the pre-order bonus, but also they did not believe anything was wrong. It was only after it was announced by reviewers this morning (who they themselves stated that they were shocked that at the games title screen it said 'Part 1') that we knew that this wasn't going to be a full game.

It was also only after the games release that my Steam page stated that the game is actually only Part 1 of a series - and then they never officially announced it, they changed the Steam page without telling us.

It's amazing how this never would have been a problem if "part 2" was mentioned from the start.
