Deluxe gets an art book and a set of skins only. Part 2 is a sequel. It is like the last adaptation of Dune film. We got it in two parts.
Yet some people make drama about this game like someone promised them that they will get all parts in one game.
1. Supposedly the game is much shorter then mentioned in the past - I had read that it was going to be a good 10-12hrs not around 6-8. You wonder if they cut the game in half as they didn't have time to finish the game, but I feel this way they just wanted to make more money off of us. I mean honestly who does not tell you that their game is only a part of a game and let their consumers know about it by reviewers only hours before the games release?
2. We still don't know how long we will have to wait until we get 'Part 2' and how much it is going to cost us so we can finish the story.
Sadly I feel by doing this they have just made people angry and request refunds. Not many people buy VR games as it is, and now I just feel sorry for the people and for the talented voice actors who worked on this game as it has now tainted their image.
Well I certainly didn't know about it, many others didn't know it and nearly all of the reviewers are saying that they weren't even ***** made aware of it. If that was the case that it was known for a week, it wasn't distributed around very well to make people aware.
Not blaming you or anything but you know.
It seems people are confused here and looking for sensationalism.
It was never said that it was going to be 10-12hrs game.
In one of interviews with devs from August, one of them said that it took him 8-9hrs to complete the game. The other one said it was 5-6hrs.
There would not be any drama if they did not add information about Part I. And just titled Part II as ARI 2.
From what I know they did not show anything which is not in Part 1.
On the Steam page:
"PART ONE OF A TWO-PART STORY
Zula's Fight Begins Here: Part One of this gripping two-part story thrusts you into the violent world of ALIEN, where you will uncover the secrets lurking within the GES facility on LV-354, the enigmatic planet Purdan. This installment stands alone as a complete story yet leaves you hanging on a thrilling cliffhanger, eager to dive deeper into Zula's unfolding story in Part Two, where she will face new challenges and deadlier enemies."
You could say Lone Echo 1 also was part one of a two-part story, Lone Echo 1 really ended as a cliff-hanger with tons of open questions and half a story.
Still I would not have missed Lone Echo 1 for the world.
Being a two-part story is not going to reduce my interest in Alien Rogue Incursion. In fact I do like the hope of getting more, if the first part turns out to be great/amazing. 2c.
I mentioned about this issue on another thread, it looks like this info only seems to have show up recently but ONLY in certain regions. Someone else have this on their Steam page, but I and many others do not.
I did not want to talk about it on forum because achievements spoil things. Obviously I did not know what is a meaning behind part 1, but it was clear that there are no more parts on the list.
And it is really nothing new that achievements leak before release date.
Yes, the question should be if gamers will like a story arc of part 1.
Don't worry about it, it wasn't your fault. You thought you was doing the right thing. Sadly, many people who pre-ordered the game will not have looked at the achievements not knowing what you found out.
I agree, Lone Echo 1 & 2 was a great game series. Unfortunately they never officially released it for the Valve Index, I bought the games with the mod software that allows you to play them, but sadly it was very buggy. Troy Baker and Alice Coulthard's voice acting were brilliant (to be fair is there a game that Troy hasn't been good in?!).
That's what I am hoping too, I am not impressed that they suddenly announce the game will suddenly end half way through and we have to play the sequel in the sometime future to get the conclusion, but I am just hoping that the game will be so good that we will just not care about it.
I am always going to be a bit biased as I'm a fan of the franchise since day one and know/knew some of the crew and actors on Aliens.
That's the worry I have, as some people may not like the game (many reviewers are saying the game worsens for the second half) and people will not buy the second game. Because of that, they will never get the full story.
Being now a not resolved story with a big cliff hanger is a real downer. To have a wider story arc and maybe a second game with a continuation or a second part is one thing (Lone Echo...) but knowing that the whole thing will stop in the middle leaving me hanging there to wait for the resolution is something I don't like.
It reminds me when I went and saw Back to the Future - Part II as a teenager and at the end came "to be continued". I was really pissed and very frustrated.
From my point of view ARI was not advertised as a cliff hanged story arc that would resolve in a second game to be done later or never until just the last 24 hours. Very disappointed at the moment.
Still considering returning my pre order. Or maybe "not recommend" the game in a review until the last part(s) are done... Negative reviews on steam are a mighty weapon, considering the Helldivers 2 Drama this year.
Also it was not advertised as anything specific besides a story driven game. I do not want to spoil anything, but there is only a little tease for part II. And it is not like they revealed anything that a player will feel it is missing in part 1.
