IMO the game can still be run with specs below minimum requirement in some cases.
Having graphical options that go above and beyond for folks that have it isn't really a problem, so long as it performs and looks okay on those mid range cards as listed.
Tbh if you are doing PCVR though you should always aim for an upper mid PC minimum; VR is just more demanding outright.
In general I feel gamers with below-spec systems are a lot more forgiving of any occasional jank than they would be if the minimum spec were lower.
And to echo Echorion, VR has always been more demanding. Even if you ignore head tracking and motion controls, each VR game has to render two screens worth of content from two slightly different directions. 2080 RTX chipsets in laptops even is old hat - certainly PCVR enthusiasts seem willing to pay a bit of a premium in order to have a higher quality experience.
Speaking as someone currently using a 3070ti mobile, I wonder how the game will run for me. It should perform somewhere in between a 2080 Super and a 3070. At this point I've been able to use it for the Praydog mods as well as some UEVR titles. These specs remind me that I need to save for a high end desktop and not have to worry about these things for at least 5-10 years.
I would say that the question is if this game is worthy of PC upgrade now.
For example if I were to purchase a new PC for modern gaming now I would wait until 5000 series of graphic cards is released because it seems that if you do not get a card with at least 16GB vram on a level of desktop 4070, plus CPU with 16 cores, 32GB ram, it will be outdated quickly.
And there is not enough good software to justify this.
Prior to this I had a 2089 laptop, and my desktop still has twin 1080 ti cards in it. All have 32Gzb of RAM.
One of reviewers played this game on 4080 laptop with Q3 headset. As long as you are not bothered by jet engine noise, you should be ok.
That's what headphones are for. At the moment I am on a laptop and don't hear a thing except for the game. But even then, I can use the Q3 speakers and don't really notice the fans trying to lift my laptop to space.
My fan's not too bad as long as I'm wearing the headset - but then I only live a few miles from the second busiest international airport in the world - jet engines are nothing new to me 😀
People always talking about how loud the fans are. Mine to seem to get to loud, but even so headphones are just about required since laptop speakers usually are not to loud.
Thanks for letting me know. I did not know that there are such gadgets like headphones.
