The cheapest option to play this game is getting Meta Quest 3S and a standalone version of the game. Together they will cost around 340USD. Maybe even less on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.
And you will have Batman Arkham Shadow for free.
The game was initially announced to be flatscreen + VR by the Aliens official Twitter account.

idk why but they did a 180 on that and opted for just VR.
I'm going to wait until the game is 4.99 on sale and hopefully by then mods have been released to add compatibility for flatscreen users.
Incorrect. It was not announced for flat screen at all. They just worded it vaguely.
PC meant PCVR
Console meant PSVR2
VR platforms meant standalone VR gaming systems
There is no reason to make up fairy tales.
Not to mention Survios is known for specializing in VR games. So people were asking a question about flat screen version right after the project was publicly announced in 2022. I did it myself as well.
Even some people made guesses in 2022 that it will be about Zula.
Er, no, you want to read the wording again..
There's nothing vague about it, It states quite clearly console, PC, "and VR", Meaning it was intended for all platforms, VR and non-VR.
And if they meant it was specifically VR, A good way of not misleading people is to put "VR headset required" in the image or in the post when it was announced, But that's more the fault of the person handling the Alien twitter account than it is with Survios.
Either way, It misled me into thinking I'd have a shot at a new aliens title, Guess I'll have to wait for the possibility of it being modded to add flatscreen support.
Yes, they worded it vaguely.
vague - "of uncertain, indefinite, or unclear character or meaning", "thinking or communicating in an unfocused or imprecise way"
You can't play PCVR games without PC or PSVR2 games without PS5. Not to mention further messages from Survios confirmed it being a VR game.
Here, read the comments:

Also a "console" and not "consoles" was a clue as well.
I game on PC and upgrade "sparingly" because I can't justify spending wads of cash on annual upgrades, And I value my continued existence and thus I can't justify spending £300+ for a VR headset just to play one videogame.
I wish Survios the best of luck, And I hope they do at least change their minds moving forward with post launch updates to add the ability to play without a headset, Until then though, This is one title I'm gonna have to skip or wait until I can find a used VR set for dirt cheap.
Hopefully you'll find one for a good price, because everyone who played Alien: Isolation in flat and in VR can tell you, that a Xenomorph standind directly in front of you is a completly different experience.
Oh yeah, you know folks, just buy some crap VR headset if you want to play a game with questionable design, with customer unfriendly marketing tactics, made by a questionable game studio with no proven track of quality titles...just make this small purchase of 150 USD and then 30 USD for the game.
Since when Meta Rift S is bad for that price?
Since when ARI design is questionable?
Since when ARI marketing is unfriendly?
Since when Survios is questionable?
Aren't you one of those who want a studio which specializes in making VR games to make a flat screen game?
Do you even care about quality of video games?
Or you are just happy with even bad games as long as they are based on some franchise you like?
You hit the point there mate, I do care about the quality of video games. It's my favorite hobby. Sometimes maybe I care a little too much.
It does not seem you do as you are going against what it seems like the best Aliens 1986 experience in a form of video game.
Why do you think it will be the best? Because you can take a motion tracker with you hand? I bet the worst AVP game on market will still top this. Maybe an overreach but not by much
ufff... don't get me wrong, I appreciate the help and support but putting down 150 extra bucks to be able to play one game... that's still quite the asking price. I can't, in good conscience, do that just to play one game.
Guess this means that this isn't gonna happen then... shame but I guess that is life.
