Game doesn't Launch
Hi,
has anyone a tip to get this Game working?

Every time i start the game i get a white (sometimes black) screen. My Pc is still working but there is no way to close that screen. I can't even open the task manager. I tried Alt+F4 and all other known to me ways to close this screen but only restart helps -.- ...

I also tried the compatibility mode in Win XP SP3 and WIN 8, no improvement. Starting as administrator doesn't help. My system setup shouldn't be the problem.

I bought this while on sale an was a bit lazy to get it startet, maybe to late for a refund but a sad situation.

Help would be appreciated

It always worked for me, except when I had a computer that was too weak to run the game.
I run it on linux using the "steam play" tool

Same here, i guess after a windows update not running anymore. By starting i get a white screen which is dissappearing (crash of game). In Gaming Dir i have for each start not readable crash logs

Here's the link to another thread somewhere here that solved it: https://steamcommunity.com/app/18500/discussions/0/215439774876352898/

Copy/Paste of the text is below. This will fix the crash on startup issue, but (all due respect to Ahazelet25) setting the game to fullscreen via the ingame menu once it starts up will cause the crashes to resume the next time you run it. Editing the "fullscreen" value to False seems to be the actual fix, as the game reverts to 1600 x 900 on its own at startup and doesnt give the option of going any higher, only lower. But again, much respect to Ahazelet25, because i still wouldnt be able to play yet if not for his/her effort.

From reading the other posts and some trial and error I fixed the crash problem.

I'm on MSI gv62. Every time I started the game it would change res to 720. I went into
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DefenseGridTheAwakening

Then clicked config. Then I changed the resolution to my screen settings 1920x1080

It still crashed out, but didn't make my screen res change like it was.

I saw the "fullscreen" setting was "True" and changed it to "False"

Boom game started and works fine.. obviosly its not fullscreen now but better then a white empty screen lol

here is what file looks like now

DisplayWidth 1920
DisplayHeight 1080
BitsPerPixel 32
Quality 2
FullScreen False
VSync True

Edit: After playing I messed w the screen res and got it to fullsize via the in game settings. Hope it helps, i was very frustrated with it lol

This works but has to be reapplied everytime i start the game....
I will try some setups and comment later.

Got it working without having to do the config.ini every time, on 3440x1440 Predator, multi-monitor setup. Set properties for .exe to compatibility windows 7, disable fullscreen optimizations, run as administrator, and under dpi settings, checked use this setting to fix scaling problems with use the dpi for main display when I open this program, and high dpi scaling override scling performed by application. I don't know if all those are necessary.

Anytime you change your ini file and game works fine, then go back ti ini file and set it to read only so the game cant change it back to something else.

I fixed mine by disabling the full screen optimization.
right click the game in steam. go to properties -> Click the Local Files tab -> Browse Local files -> find defense grid and right click go to properties -> click compatibility and check the disable full screen optimization. Ok it and try the game.

mine didnt work, but i got it working by reinstalling nvidia drivers, and checking box "put default settings". i had changed my nvidia control panel settings, the reinstall changed it to default and put "let the 3d application decide". now all games work, including this one, i had like a dozen games not working.

running in compatibility mode isn't working for me...as for the "config" in the game's data folder, I don't see anything called config, or I'd try setting fullscreen setting from true to false and then launching...of course, I would've expected compatibility mode + disable full screen optimization would have accomplished this, but that isn't working either

PC's windows 10, Alienware Aurora R8

Would not launch.. Disabled my other monitors leaving only 1 active monitor. Worked after that. Hope that helps some of you!
Have you tried adjust your computer to 100% >System >Display > Scale 100%

I had the problem on initial install on my new system. I rolled back the video drivers to generic windows drivers. The game was then able to start up. I reinstalled the latest drivers for video card and the game starts up just fine now.

I can only conclude that the latest drivers were causing the problem for the first time start up.
