Desktop and VR mode would be better
Hey devs,

The original among us I was not interested but this looks really fun. My friends also all agree but I am the only one with VR, which sucks because we cannot play this together.

So why not include VR and desktop mode, kinda like some games allow this feature IE Phasmophobia, project cars, Euro Truck Sim, American Truck Sim, Assetto corsa, Devour , VR CHAT etc.

I can be in VR and friends on desktop enjoying it all the game together with some differences.

This would be a lot better for this game I feel and would get more off a playtime because the VR market is not that big.

What do you think?

I hope they implement also the ability to play on desktop.

I'm definitely hoping for this as well. Not enough space for VR nor enough money. And if this gets voice chat, then I'd really be missing out on something. And I'm sure a some hundred or thousand people would feel the same way.

The VR market is smaller compared to others so matches will be limiting and specially if you want to play with friends.

Having this desktop/ VR is a great way to get the game going more.

PC players would have advantages over vr players and probably vice versa.

If the game was an FPS then normally yes. Console also has aim assist but how do these issues effect among us style game?

Agreed. Way more people will be able to play a desktop version. VR headsets are still very expensive, and this game got it's boom on regular desktop anyway. Why would you start with a VR version and snub the people who made you big in the first place? I just don't understand developer logic sometimes. I'd play a 3D version of this game way more than what we have now.

Understand your logic first before questioning others. This game did NOT start in VR, it started 2D and that's what made it popular. Now how do you make a VR game? The game must be projected into 3D for VR to happen. They wanted to penetrate a new market, not sell the same game with a different flavor to the same people.

"VR headsets are still very expensive"
Incorrect. Standalone headsets are far cheaper than your sorry ass PC you're sitting on.

And I disagree that the market is small. If they add crossplay with playstation that's an easy 10 million plus players with the new headset launching soon, not even counting the ones in the oculus store that exceeds 15 million plus whoever is playing connected to PC.

As an counterpoint to making this game VR optional. Assuming that some people will consider this a competitive game, those not using VR would have an unfair advantage. Not because it would be easier to complete the tasks, but because they would have a better awareness of their surroundings. They'd be able to turn faster and check their peripheral more frequently using M & K and have a better chance of seeing their crew mates croak.

Pc players would have advantages when it comes to venting.

But VR players would have the advantages of seeing thru hall ways etc etc.

People desperately hold onto their old hardware. I agree with you, but the people complaining probably have a $100 market value laptop

If they can. Games are a lot better at pushing the player in-bounds unless you're playing an indie game from one person who's still learning how to code. I'd like to hope they had the budget to hire the help they needed, but we'll find out tomorrow :)

rude much?
a VR headset for " their cheap pc " is gpong to be a waste of money, bc axccording to you their pc sucks.
so it likely wont even support vr, oir run well.

goiod points you make abotu VR not being super niche and almost smaller than the UWS complainers
Friedrich Nix Nov 11, 2022 @ 4:52pm
I can even see this full crossplay with the phone/desktop version of AMONG US. Which would be awesome. Make the same tasks, make the other leverls and mark VR and nonVR players so that you know, the VR need maybe some more time to complete the tasks. It would work. I can see this full crossplay...
