so I was playing my run and all of a sudden I was kidnapped by the magpies then I had to do this sorting job and they didn't give me enough crates to even complete the quota? is this intentional or did I just waist a couple of hours for notting?

They give you more than enough crates to fulfill the quota. you just didnt do it right. Did you remember to take into account the weight of the crate when weighing them on the scale?
Items being in crates messes with each of the machines the magpies give you in various ways but you can account for it if youre aware of it, like weighing an item, taking it out, and weighing it again. the difference in weight values will be consistant for all items that you weigh while crated.
And remember, youre measuring the weight of the item, not the crate. so if a crate weighs 16 and it comes up 36, the item weighs 20 and should be marked light not medium.
