workshop upstairs?

I may be stupid... but is the upstairs of the workshop inaccessible? I'm playing on keyboard and mouse, and when I buy the workshop expansion, I can see the slots for machines on the second floor.. and I have no idea how to get up there. I've just been surviving my only ever buying three machines- encoder, pancake, and gumball. but like, what am I actually supposed to be doing here

theres a little elevator on the left side just hold up and youll get up there

Like QuackHead said. There's an elevator when you first enter the new workshop extension. Use it the same way you raise and lower the ships to access different panels. You have to be standing on it for it to move.

You'll know when you are in the right spot because Wilbur will hold a little remote, just like when he is in front of a ship
