Why can't I blow up the hog?

Slight spoilers ahead.

So at some point you need to fix boss' ship and you can replace his fuel while doing it. And there is a side quest in which you can get a fake fuel tank that can blow up a ship. Do you see where I'm going with this?
Well, the game didn't. I got the fake fuel tank, put it in the temporal storage, got to fixing the hog's ship, replaced one of the fuel tanks with the fake one, send the hog flying and expected a kaboom. But nope, everything was fine, he just flew away. The job results didn't even mentioned the fake fuel tank, even though it usually mentions it as an error. Where is kaboom? There was supposed to be a hog shattering kaboom! <)

It's not a bug or a glitch, it's just a shame that the devs didn't account for it and I didn't get a cool achievement for it. Poor Paul, had to die for nothing (and he already died like 3-5 times more than he had to because of my incompetence)

I'll try again, but this time with 2 fake fuel tanks, so it would be even funnier when it doesn't work :)

if youre quick enough you dont even need to fix any of the ships other modules so im convinced that theyre just there to be annoying and arent actually functional, therefore wouldnt explode!

This whole job may be canonically the boss testing Wilbur, checking how well can he follow list of commands, before the actual test. So for all we know, the ship may be a paper mache ship.
But yeah, still a shame that I can't blow it up. It would be funny :)
I'm pretty sure he's not on the ship anyway (I don't think he can fit there) so it wouldn't ruin the story. Maybe if you blow it up, the hog goes "wtf, ♥♥♥♥ you, you owe me 100'000 $ now!", or a debris just lands on you and kills you, forcing you to restart anyway.

i think its pretty explicit that all the bosses are just tests for the final one.
