removing workshop machines?

I want to reorganize my area but I need to remove workshop machines. I did it before by doing something like holding Q but there's no option for it now. What did I screw up?

You also cant remove the storage area or the fluid machine.

Oh, I thought it was only in the expansion slots. I'll have to keep this in mind.

You can either purchase workshop extensions or prepare what you need before the day starts/the night before. the required pancakes/cartridge you need dont change so preparing before the job starts can save a lot of time and effort.
