Reactor Pull = Auto Death?
Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but every time I attempt to pull the reactor out of a ship it immediately pops and I'm in Limbo again. I manage to unbolt it, pull the three clips, but when I grab it and try to pull it towards my inventory I become a vapour with faint whiffs of Wilbur. Everyone talks about this as though it's a seamless removal, just like any other broken item. Am I making a mistake, or is this a bug?

Yank that core, but returning it has a trick:

Place new core, clips any order.
Bolts are: UP, Left, Right

Make sure theres no fuel or coolant running through the system, the fuel pump switch should be up, and the fader should be down.
You have to be absolutely certain that you turn the reactor off and the coolant
the top left switch must be flicked 'up' for the reactor to be off, and the coolant slider must be pulled all the way down,
For some reason the reactor explodes if the coolant is on.

Fuel pump switch should be UP.
Maybe that's what's getting me. I slide the fader down on the coolant before each attempt but I might have been switching the fuel the wrong way. I wouldn't know because I don't bother trying to pull it when there's enough fuel to correct it by fixing the cooler quickly.

I'll check in my next run.

Finally managed to pull a reactor core without becoming a statistic. The fuel switch position was unintuitive and the manual was not very clear on that factor. Thanks for your help, all.

i think its something youre meant to intuit from seeing the switch in its on position while fuel is in the system however more often than not if a fuel module is busted there is no fuel running through the system so its a moot point.

Yeah, the reactor design in-manual and out of it has some serious problems IMO. It punishes you for taking the mission without knowing how to handle it, and doesn't effectively communicate how to handle it anyway. I was already killed a couple of times because I didn't want to press the wrong answer key in the beginning and was searching for an answer, then when I finally decided to just hit a button because otherwise it would kill me anyway, I was frustrated to learn that it's always green and the expectation is that you learn that by trial and error-- the manual should include a line about rebooting it after lockout instead of JUST talking about how anyone who gets it wrong is an idiot that they'll sue into oblivion.

Getting stuck AGAIN because the manual says nothing about which direction is on for the fuel switch was unfun enough that I just avoided reactor missions at every opportunity rather than try to throw every run away in pursuit of a puzzle that can't show up until a third of the way through the game anyway.

Ultimately, I suppose the problem I have with the Reactor is that the answers are simply not in the manual. The only other module I've had this problem with had to do with a particular syringe which I couldn't find due to a lid to one storage box covering the other. A hint that it was in storage-- like the ones given for literally every other item in the box-- would have saved a ton of time and confusion for me. IYKYK.

Anyway, aside from those, love the game. Thanks for your help.
