question regarding day 3

so everytime i hit day 3
i get this dude

the issue with this is that u need both the decoder and the pancake machine, however there is not enough room for both machines.. and the garage expansion costs 500.. however most ive ever earned before i hit day 3 is around 260
so be able to get this mission done, which cant be skipped, u would need the garage expansion, so u would end up going into debt, which means u would be unable to pay rent, isnt that just an instant loss? am i missing somethin here? ive had to abandon a run when i last ran into this to see if i missed somethin but yea :/ idk what to do

Here are a few tips I that I can give from my experience.

Firstly in order to get more money you should never take refuelling jobs since these pay the least. (I suggest spending some of your omens on the more jobs upgrade so you can pick the best paying one) For every job you do always refill their fuel tanks even if its not required because you get bonus 6 coins for a full tank and it doesn't cost you anything. If you have trouble getting a perfect fill then simply just keep starting and stopping the filling to reset the speed.

When staring a new run make sure to keep running over the manhole cover so that guy talks to you and tells you to meet him at night, make sure to accept his job since doing it gives you 200 coins.

With regards to the machines you can basically ignore the coder and only buy the pancake maker since the rebreather is almost impossible to fix properly if its pancake is broken which can heavily penalise you.

remember you can actually have negative money and go deficit, probably useful to buy all the necessary tools right away

Although you can go into negative its not a good idea in the long run since ending the day with negative money will give you a debt penalty causing you to lose even more money that you don't have. This means you need to earn a lot more money to be able to pay rent and the debt.

My first advice would be don't exit/continue the game to make the perfect run from the beginning of the same cycle. Just continuosly play it. It will progress story line and you'll get more omens and new events which give you more money. I've been reloading the game for entire day and still could not earn required amount. But after playing it for couple of cycles, I've managed to earn over 500 coins and have both of the machines

I have a very simple and clever way, buy two machines the day before, don't open them, wait for the mandatory task to arrive, and place one of the machines as needed.
