The games worth $25 bucks, and because.
Will you be running low on hard drive space? :P
That sounds like a Live Service game, and those always fail with maybe the exception of Fortnite.
Yes.
There's still a lot of DR2.0 players they can win over according to SteamDB. Yearly releases certainty won't do them any good and would only further alienate and divide this polarized community.
Plus, because EA WRC is so thick in content, they will need to deliver a bunch of new features and goodies to get people to buy another copy of WRC. People who've given this game a fair shake know there is a ton of replay value to be had and an abundance of content to chew on.
There was like 3-4 driver changes this season, a few new liveries and a couple new locations. Hardly enough to warrant a new release for.
Least if people are pushing back on a $25 WRC rally game now with all the bells and whistles it has. There's zero hope of a new release in 6 months doing much better. Codies fanbase is very tough to please. It would go over like a lead brick am sure.
They spent a lot of money for the WRC licensing. I doubt they are going to throw everything out the window now. Codies has always been known for post launch support for their titles. I don't see this going yearly.
If the ratings were better, I might see it. But at mixed, it would be career suicide for EA/Codies. They don't have the numbers to do yearly like they can with F1. Plain and simple. The dev work, marketing, licensings and all the other expenses would be more than what they would earn in dismal sales and even more bad PR.
WRC isn't going to have dramatic changes year on year; heck even a few years apart so waiting isn't going to dramatically change the scope of the game aside from a few new rallies here and there.
But yeah as you alluded to there's a lot of content in the current game so if they do release a game later this year I'm not budging. Got plenty of rallies to have fun with in time trials and club events to last me a long while. Unless the next game is a strong turnaround technically and runs smooth with much improved graphics on the level of DR2 or better I'm good.
Yes, there isn't much incentive to buy an all new game later this year.
If you like this game, there's plenty in it to keep people playing for a while, or if you're like me, and find the driving very lackluster, there's no reason to buy more of this.
