But all Regular cars only have one
Dirt rally 2 had around 7 for every car.
Yeah they did but go back to DR2.0 and look at them. There's the main livery then the additional ones are just like a solid red car, blue car, green car. Most of them are just simple liveries. You can do that easily yourself in less than a minute on EAWRC and if you want more elaborate ones, you have the option for that now too.
DR2.0 had loads of liveries but they took up quite a lot of disk space and I didn't use most of them.
Was hit and miss. I loved the red and white livery for the Peugeot T16 R5. That or the red and black. But otherwise I didn't really care much for them. I wanted my own custom liveries and was resorting to mods which as I said was a pain in the ass and ruinous at times when you got dinged for altering game files.
The livery maker we have now is so much better. Not as good as like Gran Turismo 7's but still, much appreciated compared to how it used to be. Miles ahead of say F1 23 which is super basic and lame imho. Regardless, it's a step in the right direction and is something they can build on no doubt and was something the community begged to have for years.
Here's one I made the other day. Better than anything I was able to make myself on DR2.0 which is why I have mad respect for skin modders on that game lol

I haven't even tried the livery editor yet, it's a bit much for an old fogey like me...
Thanks for the compliment! I'm no spring chicken anymore myself so I understand that. I've found it's far more enjoyable when you just want some down time from rallying like after too many drinks or with morning coffee/tea. I'll just grab my xbox controller and zone out messing with various paints/decals until I settle on something I like.
You probably know but if not there's some premade skins you can use and simply change the color's of if you don't feel like being too creative or feel like spending too much time on it as well. Initially it was something I ignored but I find myself using it more and more. Makes my favorite cars feel more personable for me. I also just like looking at the cars and all the little details too honestly. Like I said, it's fun when you just want to zone out I think but that's just me. A lot of people can care less and I respect that. :) Least it's there now for those of us who do care. Not needing mods is all I wanted.
Is it the devs that are lazy or us? Again, DR2.0 had extra liveries but they were just basic colors for the most part. There were some cool ones, a lot of which were tied to DLC but yeah. They gave us the livery editor, so I am sure its this way now to encourage you to use it if you don't like the default.
What i would like is ..since people can make their own liveries:
How about a Livery browser ...like in Forza or the Crew. where people can upload their creations.
Absolutely!! I would love this. Great thinking. May as well add that I'd also like it if they could allow us to upload custom decals to our racenet accounts to download and use in-game similar to GT7. Would open the door to some crazy awesome liveries.
It's like being in an abusive relationship and still supporting the abuse because you're told this is the only way and just the way it is. This world would be a much better place if people would hold others accountable instead of making excuse after excuse for the incompetence.
Tracks are nice
Tons of cars
But you get the famous EA aftertaste ... it feels ...Sterile, too clean, no identity
