I dont know if youve seen my posts but I had exactly the same issue so reverted my installation back to 1.8.1. You are the only other person I have found to have this issue on the same headset, did you find a way to resolve it?

You mean the Steam beta, yes I tried that but the overlays and stage info doesn't show in the headset while driving, does it in yours?

VR Pop Up do not show up anymore... HP G2 here always used with Open XR. Where we can search for support?

To properly use the G2 in Windows (Only works in SteamVR as EA stupidly broke OpenXR with their garbage and uneccessary anti cheat), you can A. dual boot into Windows 10, B. do not apply the 24H2 update to Windows 11 and C. if you have updated, you can download Win 11 23H2 and either use it as a standalone or dual boot in conjunction with Win 11 24H2. This is the only way you can use the latest version of WRC 2024 in Windows, you can also use the method Westindiman employs, but you have to use an older version of the game (before their garbage anti cheat)

How to get older versions of Windows 11:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/download-iso-of-windows-11-that-is-older-than-the/e7b9b0fb-fbd2-429c-b09c-f79a602ab420

Stop windows from applying feature updates (you'll still get security updates):

Sadly, due to the fact that WMR was deeply integrated into the operating system (and it has been entirely removed as of 24H2), there is little hope for the G2 outside of the steps outlined above. There is Monado, but development on that is slow and it is a lot of work to get the G2 working in Linux far beyond them even starting on any Windows implementation.

All I want is a proper PCVR headset and we are extremely limited in choice. I'm back to using my Rift S until the Deckard releases. I tried the Q3 but It is USB output and while some may not be sensitive to the compression issues, I am, so I returned it. I won't touch Pimax either because they seem to have serious QC issues among other things.

It is disgraceful that MS/HP have not given G2 users some workaround but I will NEVER buy anything from HP again on the basis of this disaster. I have hardware from a decade ago that still works perfectly in Win 11, The G2 is only 4 years old.

Hope that helps.

It will only work in SteamVR mode, they broke OpenXR with their stupid anti cheat, sorry, I should have been clear about that, I will amend my original post. It does not work well, but it does work. Sadly, there is a big performance hit when you play in SteamVR.

To do this, go into SteamVR settings, go to OpenXR, then select 'Set SteamVR as OpenXR runtime'. Also, make sure HAGS is off.

i have the same problme as the op. It happens to me with Quest 3/Pro on Windows 11, and with SteamVR, Virtual Desktop, and Oculus Link.
Westindiman Nov 15, 2024 @ 12:38pm
It only happens on my G2 but not on my Pico. I have some bad news also my friend, its been like this since May and they (EA) show feigned interest and no inclination to fix it.

It worked fine for me with the Q3 (I returned that headset though).
