Runs very smooth in VR on Ultra settings and looks great
I'm fortunate to have a high end rig (4090, 5800x3d, and Quest Pro- usb link max res) and the game looks great and runs in VR without any stutter for on Ultra settings (except for mirrors and reflections medium), DLSS high, AA cinematic. Feels super immersive in VR with buttkickers fully dialed in!

Compared to DR2 the image quality is similar except for there is less shadow pop up, but unfortunately some artifacts/blur on road side objects due to DLSS. Tracks, like some of the Italy tracks, which don't have a ton of poles/flags, look gorgeous! The vegetation looks really nice, and the view distance is significantly improved over DR2.

I've also been lucky and haven't had any crashes/freezes/stutters. I'm guessing the game really benefits from the 3D cache on 5800/7800 x3d's. I also ran the game several times before the VR update to build the shader cache.

Hopefully codemasters can improve the performance and image quality on lower end systems as rally is so good in VR.

I grew up playing RBR and still enjoy playing it and DR2 in VR but I think WRC is a worthy addition.

Lol imagine suggesting an immersion decreasing setting to people looking for max immersion in VR...

True, they serve very very little purpose for rally.

They serve immersion, ya know like being in a car?

Normally i would agree but if i am remembering correctly, they don't even represent what is behind you on the max setting. I don't know why you are reacting like i just lit your underwear on fire, but ok

Same problem here, I spent 14 odd hours testing and countless hours trying to find a solution to the massive spikes in performance drops. Giving up now and going back to Dirt Rally 2. it's a good game if you could live with losing a second randomly when hitting a corner. Sadly it causes me to miss the corner completely while I wait for the game to come back.

Hmm. I have 1 hour or 1 week left. I'm not sure if I should risk further testing, or just refund now. One thing I do know is om going to be playing some dirt rally 2.0 vr today.

3090+5800X3D is not enough, the game looks like Rally Championship 2000 and runs like ass. Combined with the kernel anticheat, I've had enough and will try to get a refund.

Although the sense of immersion will be reduced, if you narrow the display range, you can significantly speed up the operation.
For Quest Link, set FOV-Tangent to 0.6 0.24 with Oculus Debug Tool to display the virtual monitor size.

I have tried everything I could find or I tried my own fixes, combinations of all sorts. The only time I got rid of the massive drops was when I forced the game into 60 fps both in the headset (Quest 3) and in the nvidia control panel. The game was jerky but there was zero drops. Still unplayable because the jerkiness was way more than you would expect from 60fps, kinda like there was some sort of imbalance between the headset and the PC, like they couldn't sync.

Just an update.

I turned on XMP for my RAM in my BIOS and it massively improved the experience.
Not sure how it had got turned off.

I have the Quest 3 at 90Hz and 1.1x (4128x2208)

In the Oculus debug tool I have the Pixel Display Override at 1.9
Forced ASW 45fps
Encode Bitrate 800
Link Sharpening Quality

I do have a 4090 an i9 3900k + 32GB ram

It looks really good, nice and sharp. The massive drops have gone. There are a couple of tiny drops but it's not enough to ruin the experience now, no more of those huge lag spikes.

I'll post the user settings from the ini file rather than go through all of the settings.

Good to know. I have the same combination, albeit without X3D part.
I guess I'll avoid this game for some time.

when you need a 4090 to run a game smoothly than the developer don't know his business or they have a contract with NVIDIA or both. I only paid 20 EUR for this beta version of a rally game. Its embarrassing for a game in 2024. UE is the wrong decision for racing games. Probably the last time I bought a WRC game and hoping next year it will be great ....

Even with high end hardware, it still "micro-freezes" as UE4 move origin points while "travelling" in and out of data-tiles. Nothing to do about it (but using better graphics engine).

The blur is horrible.
I was on a rainy stage and my co-driver told me a chicane was coming up. The friggen thing materialized right in front of me and ended my event

Try FSR, it fixed all blurriness for me.
