there is a rally pass for cosmetics, and you need ea-play when you want to play all "moments"-challenges. I dont have any since I dont really care for extra cosmetics and moments suck anyway imo. (very small part of the game)
you can play the whole game offline as far as you dont want to compete against other player times afaik
Other aspects I have issues with but I would easily pay a full retail price of 70 for it.
Also, my performance has been perfect since launch.
If you sit on wheels/pedals/stick/VR and want a bit of serious rally performance, goto RBR. Even DR2 is way better with that kind of setup.
If you just like to point and click with a controller, EA WRC is good. Has some ok/great stages (although limited by UE4's technology) and the overall accessibility is top notch with custom championships and what not. As a long time rally fan I really enjoy EW WRC "as is" but have to look elsewhere for the "rally soul" (and I mean the driving part).
100% agree. I just don't understand the fan fare of dirt rally 2.. it's mediocre at best.
Point and click controller gamers will like EA WRC.
I do also enjoy the stages in EA WRC but it always fall flat (no soul) in comparison to DR2 and RBR. It will be like this until EA (CM) abandon UE4. It is not a good engine for rally/racing, imo.
I used to like it and enjoy it very much. Now i know better. It was flawed
dirt rally 2 is fun and so is EA WRC i think if someone who never played either tried both they would find them both very similar.
obviously someone who has mostly played dirt rally 2 and is used to it are going to prefer that as its going to feel "right" because of more time spent.
personally ive barely played dirt rally 2.0 in the last year or so so they are both pretty fresh feeling for me both bring the fun
anyways i just see a lot of bad stuff all the time about this game but really none of the issues i see have existed for me i would say the fps is slightly lower than i would expect and a few other things that are a little annoying but in general its much better then most of the other newer games i tried in the last year.
i think if your really into hardcore simulation then i think maybe someone could say its more arcade like but personally i think theres aspects of every sim title you could call arcade like.
i think the longer/more sim racing titles you have tried the more you see that every game/sim has things it does well and things it does not.
none of them are perfect or even close to it so the arguments of this is more real than that is idk i hate to say it but its people just being a fan/long time player of a certain game more than it is a fact or something lol
as someone who used to be like that about other sims thinking this is so real and nothing else is as close to real(talking about ACC) after a while you just come to the realization that everything is really a work in progress at this state of gaming when it comes to simulations.
once you can let that stuff go you can pretty much play every sim title and enjoy it for the things it does well and just hope the things it doesnt get updated in the future.
anyways i bought the game on new year sale and paid 30$ i feel like it was worth it last night i did the official WRC club event @ kenya and well lol i did not do well haha finished 4330th overall or something lots of crashes and everything but it was a really cool experience also being able to join these club events is pretty awesome
this was a really immersive rally event a lot of night sunset/sunrise in the rain/wet conditions it actually looked amazing. I also crashed and got a 20 second penalty in the 3rd stage and almost quit until i was like wait im just doing this for fun what am i even thinking lol and i enjoyed finishing it instead of being bummed and giving up.
i also really enjoy the time trials also the custom championships for single player you can set up seem pretty cool personally didnt enjoy the career mode so far i picked the long one it was a mistake i feel like lol
**anyways lots of reading there haha the game works really nice for me on i5-13600k rx6800 and i would recommend it tips are find some FFB wheel settings online and turn down car reflections
DR2 was always flawed, and I've taken a lot of heat over the years from the fanboys every time I've said it.
However, even with its flaws, it still does many things better than EA WRC.
I would go with DR2, if you don't like it, refund it, and try EA WRC.
I know how unrelenting the community is when their favorites get bashed. Trust me I know from all the heat I've taken for my love of WRCG.
I still have it installed and I would never tell someone it wasn't worth their time or money but I just enjoy the other rally games much more. Overall, I enjoy each of them for what they are. The more rally the better.
its all I can tell for sure since I havent played much of DR2 and WRCG, but I guess imo its:
EA WRC > WRCG > DR1 > DR2
minor edit.. just switch the first two around! thanks =]
car > hovercraft
