I think the real reason they switch to UE is the dev tools that allow for a much more streamlined workflow, that keeps dev time/costs down.
To me, Dirt Rally still looks better than DR 2.0.
The DR 2.0 team had the newer EGO engine available. Now they have Unreal 4 and it looks pretty good to me, but I'm curious to see what it looks like in VR.
Dirt Rally was worlds ahead of DR 2.0. on my Oculus Rift 2!
Doubt they will do anything to improve this game, but im sure their next entry should be better. At least I hope, EA may end up running them into the ground and release a crappy version every year at a premium like all their sports titles. Who knows.
That sounds simply like WRC might be more demanding than DR2.0, no? It proves nothing really.
(The snow is dreadful just like the rain was dreadful initially in DR2.0)
It proves nothing? What are you talking about? I take it you did not play DR2 or even DR1? And did you even even read or know how to read, Them games look quite a bit better, dust particles, reflections to damage, to rain. Only thing WRC does better is textures, thats is it... Proves nothing lol.
Your opinion is just that pal. Don't like others others disagreeing? sigh...
Why don't you just inform me why my simple statement can be so wrong. Just my statement mind - nothing more or less.
Or are you happy to just insult me like a child clever lad.
The only games perfectly playable with UE are Ride 3,4,5.....
Milestone seems perfectly use UE.
The Devs know better then we if the EGO engine reached its limit or even not.
However if the limit is in the engine itself or in the costs its produces.
Unreal Engine in general have a highly compatible content transfer between the different engine versions.
The only problem i see there is again EA.
EA is so focused on economy, stakeholder and stockshares, that real development falling back.
It is the economy of EA to creat a hype to a focused releasedate and let the stockworth rising.
And a replaning of the releasedate would cost the company a lot of money.
It is just their business-model to earn quick money.
In over 90% of all EA Games, the product released unfinished with a very long planed release date.
I trust in Codemasters and what they will make of the engine.
And to be honest, for their first game with the new engine it is already pretty good.
But of course far from perfect. We should have patient and let them work.
And also we should stop to punish the Devs for things that the publisher does wrong.
Sadly it developed to a normal thing with building a hypetrain to increase the stockworth and finaly disappointing people.
Keep your heads up guys.
Future is coming.
Other than that i DONT like UE perfomance is not there , Stutter problems ,VRR problems and These Devs have no XP with this engine. DF seems to agree on that , they are pro after all.
