What plans do codemasters and ea have for WRC?
I mean, will this be an annual game like F1, or more like DR2 with tons of DLCs, etc (like a game as service) that will last for several years?

Did they say anything about this?

Nothing as of yet. I just think they'd be foolish to expect people to buy this game yearly. WRC has so much content here and can easily be replayed for years unlike typical EA games that are pretty barebones in comparison (like F1 23 for instance). Not sure why anyone would buy another game just for a few updated team stats and maybe a different stage/layout here and there. There's only 3 manufacturers as it is in WRC.. It would be a tough sale considering how much content this game has. Not sure how on earth they'd be able to justify a full other purchase.

I'm not much of a gambler but I would bet they'll be doing yearly DLC's instead of yearly games but we'll see. The fact the game wasn't numbered also adds to my optimism since every EA game that is yearly is numbered (FIFA 23, F1 23, Madden 23, ect). We'll have to see. I just know myself and many others will not be buying this series yearly lol There's plenty of meat on this game to keep me busy for a long time. Long enough to wait for the next iteration to cost $5 on sale. If that's what EA wants, then so be it. Just think they'll make more money doing DLC's than outright new games.

Devs said in a podcast that for now, no plans were fully signed about yearly release or DLC and more, IMHO, the best approach could be to develop a yearly DLC with small updates on the liveries / drivers lineup then add content with other DLCs (new stage, rally?), a rally game doesn't need to have a yearly release.

I highly doubt that they haven't already made a decision on whether or not the 2024 season will be a new game, or dlc.

Well, this makes a lot of sense.

I´m not a fan of having dozens of small dlcs in a game that will fracture the community, however I don´t think there will be enough content from this year game to the next season one. I love kt games, but this was one of the flaws of them by doing one game per year, not enough new content unless you skip a game or two.

If they release a yearly update for a couple of years or three... well that would be fine as long is CHEAP.

Since the price of the game is lower then expected it makes me think of a live service type approach with a yearly significant update that cost about the same with things in between.

I'm not sure how real life rally seasons work, how many of the same locations are used on a yearly basis. I wouldn't want to buy the same locations over and over again, i would as smaller priced DLC as long as the upgrade was worth it.

This game launched with a bunch of locations, some of witch are obviously rushed. Others looking fantastic. Finland being the former. I'm pretty sure those rushed ones will be updated to match the quality of the others over time.

They switched to the Unreal Engine :steamsad: but at least all they have to do is click a few boxes, not worry so much about that side of things and leave it to EPIC. :steamsad: :steamhappy: :steamfacepalm:

My opinion is that seems like the route to go, some wonkyness here and there but all in all a great foundation and i would like to see that grow from year to year rather then being pieces of a whole.
