Yes, I agree, it would be great if we could save replay

I think for performance reasons they might not ever do this. It wasn't possible in the first 2 Dirt Rally games. Pretty sure they are just recording telemetry and then rendering it all over again when you see a replay. 25 min stages would fill up some peoples drives.

I would like to have the option too, just not sure it will ever happen. I've taken bits of stage replays using Shadow Play, but yea it's a pain to record the replay with any 3rd party solution.

Wrong on all counts.
It is totally possible, would not affect performance and it's up to people how much hard drive space they want to use. There is no reason not to have the option
100% this is an important feature (once they have fixed physics and performance and in game wheel delay).

You just stated exactly why it WONT fill up people's hdd's. Ig is just 4recording locations if the car on the track on a spreadsheet so to speak. Or the telemetry for a better term. It is NOT. Saving a video. Just remembering where everything was anc rendering it again. Honestly, that is probably a 100mb file maximum. There is no reason not to do this. A LOT of other games so it just fine.

Just asked on the official discord and the the CM/ EA admin said probably not

20 years ago, you could save the replay as car position (x,y,z) and produce a .rpl document that could be shared, replayed and used for various social forums. The .rpl document would size around 2 Mb of data for a 20 km stage. There is no interest for this in todays market since everything is "fire and forget" more or less. Wish for a new (old) thinking.

RBR still does this. why can todays developers not acomplish this?

Not sure to understand why they say no, as our ghost is saved anyway when we do the run.

I dunno, with everybody wanting to show off even substandard gameplay, games having built in post to YouTube options etc, I would have thought this would be a time where a good replay system would be in high demand. So it's odd they choose not to do this considering it should be fairly easy to implement.

Truth, even in DR1 they had cringy text dialog telling you you should upload that to YT, yet no in game way to do so.

Not just that, its also a native feature in UE itself.
Although maybe using the native opens up some exploits for cheaters to take advantage of?

True, it's in UE. Forgot that.
IMO, cheating is pathetic but even more in a Rally driving/sim game.
Even though there is cheating, I really don't care, if I can save my run replays and times :-)
