ayo i still have high hopes for it, i do love a bit of Circuit racing, as well as rally
But im smack bang love drifting .... and codemasters virtually locks that physics attribute of realism which is sad cause drifting and rally are virtually the same driving discipline
There are perfect stages here on ashphalt that are sooo designed for drifting .... but i cant cause of the limitation
then the rally sim masterclass will debate the cars are realistic
i guess you havent drifted before or played ACC or iracing to know what assists off actually means
Whats your thoughts about the RWD cars? I have not played them much. Because they would be more in line with drifting than the AWD cars which is what I gravitate to more.
While I'm not at all into drifting, but you are correct, you cannot really properly drift the cars in this game. This is an ongoing issues with the CM rally games. With the physics in this game, you pretty much just throw the cars a little sideways into the corners, slide for a bit, then drive out of the corner, you aren't really drifting through the corner using throttle, and steering to maintain the car's rotation.
I'm a bit confused by that last edit. Admittedly I have no idea about drifting but I do play ACC and I don't use assists in anything I play. Do you mean me personally or were you just making a general statement?
what happens when you floor it with all assists off
Are you talking about AWD cars because what you describe is actually how you are suppose to drive AWD cars quickly in Rally.
"Drifting" is slow in rally. In FWD/AWD, how you attack a corner is different than a RWD car. Heavy braking, quick rotation, then rely on the AWD or FWD traction to pull you out of the corner. In many ways, AWD rallying is more boring but its the faster way. Its a very Stocatic style of driving vs a RWD that requires more maintaining momentum and flow through corners.
drifting is just you controlling thottle and steering to break traction and guide your vehicle around corners
Its limited lol by game mechanics has been in every codemasters game , maybe not soo much F1
Its there as a game mechanic to produce quick exits for fast times
I'm talking about long sweeping corners, where you use throttle/wheel spin, and steering input to maintain the car's rotation through long sweeping turns. You can't really to that in CM rally games, not even on gravel.

Now thats All assists off :P
Keep your expectations in check. The team that made it is small and just transitioned to a new engine, which I assume is just a stepping stone for them to progress onto UE5 eventually. If you can accept that it's not perfect there is a good time to be had.
or monte carlo?
let the stutter fest happen it will eventually disappear as devs need to compile shaders at startup instead of real time
Nah the game is great fun and you will sink alot of hours into it, worth the $$ and you will be belting your car around corners

OFF TOPIC
I just had alot of Rally sim drivers have a go at me about realism
but they dont know what they are talking about cause they havent ventured out of the rally gene pool
and they get really upset when i say its quite similar to mario kart except mario kart can maintain power through its drifts lol
For something like a racing game that sort of stutter doesn't fly.. People don't complain about it as much in other ue4 games but I promise you it's there
They should of stayed on their own "ego" engine instead of switching to ue4
cant lie The RWD are excessive with very little throttle response , and they require Dev attention or a touch of stability but no where near what a RWD car feels like
Your going to have to buy a fwd awd and rwd for career so your gonna experience Massive pendulum effect with the RWD kinda handles more like a mid rear car to be honest like F1 on dirt
