It's strange some people still think that RBR (with mods) has better and more realistic handling, just because a few Youtubers insist it does.
I've played that game, and it's insanely floaty or slippery when cornering.
RBR still has superior physics overall, braking in that game feels very authentic and the damage is more punishing, as it should be.
But it totally lacks the feeling of digging into the gravel and regaining traction while you feel the torque increase. It feels extremely basic in that regard. (also the game looks terrible for understandable reasons, minor gripe)
I haven't played it for about 4 or 5 years at this point but from how I remember it feeling, I 100% agree with you about the grip levels. It felt like your tyres were just spinning along the surface of the gravel but never digging in and getting any purchase. This made it pretty frustrating and unsatisfying to drive for me, despite how convincing the sense of weight and suspension was.
I know there's been at least one NGP update since then so I'm hoping I like the feel of it more. We shall see.
Lastly... I love you DOOMGUY
RBR is not the best rally sim.
Actually. You are right.. it's the only rally sim.
This are just the online rally´s... not the championships and not the hotlap leaderboards, these are additional.

It's one of the best examples I could give as to why presentation (graphics and sound) absolutely DOES matter. I'm really not a graphics snob, but there's just so, so many amateurish elements of the way it has been modded that really add up. Whether its the cardboard cutout spectators, the N64 quality of the car interior or your co-driver giving certain calls in a totally different voice, I'm just constantly being taken out of the game. Sure, the car behaviour might be good, but you've got to be able to ignore a hell of a lot of distracting shortcomings to be able to get along with this.
I'm not sure I can. Credit where credit is due, though, the RSF package was quite easy to get up and running. Way better than RSRBR that I used back in 2017-2018.
Never heard of discussion? RBR is one of the games that WRC (especially from naysayers) is compared to constantly.
Anyways I can attest that RWD and FWD feel accurate in RBR, to me atleast. I've taken my Mustang GT into some logging roads as well as my grocery getter.
Both were incredibly easy to flick across the surface of a road with weight transfer and felt nearly weightless, as if they were just surfing across the rocks even when driving normally. The Mustang itself took no effort to spin the tires, and going uphill could NOT gain any ounce of traction.
I'm only missing driving an AWD on gravel now ;)
UK, Australia and the US i enjoy the most.
Oddly the best looking mod tracks, by far, are tarmac. Biskupice 2004, Rosciszov(sp?)-Walim, Sieversdorf, Semetin 2010, Gabiria-Legazpi(extremely good visually for RBR)...
these are some of the best i think... very popular stages, good visuals, very detailed road and surface design.
There is a very strong Tarmac community in RBRRSF because tarmac is very well done, and the FFB reflects that perfectly.
While gravel in RBR is good and everything, i think in games like DR2 or WRC its more forgiving but to me also enjoyable.
But it is Tarmac rally where RBR rly shines, on a wheel the FFB taken directly from the steering rack, is lightyears ahead of codemasters rally games. And the tarmac physics equally so.
This is one of the reason why i can enjoy WRC on gravel and snow, no problem, but WRC tarmac is the most dull experience you can get in a rally game, there is like nothing goin on.
