Different Steering behaviour with different camera view?
Im driving the WRC2 cars and to me it feels like the steering behaviour changes depending on which camera view I use. I use a steering wheel (Simucube 2 Sport).

I mostly use the dash view but I tried the cockpit view (where you can adjust FOV and seat position). In the cockpit view, even if I try to make it as similar to the dash view as possible, its almost like the steering linearity has changed or something. The front end seems more twitchy. When you are tracking out of a corner and unwinding the wheel, the front end has this awkward left-right yawing motion, like im playing on a gamepad and just went full countersteer, even if Im just returning the wheel back to "neutral".

Anyone else notice this? Is it due to a different FOV or camera position that it seems this way? Is it just me?

Thanks!

Interesting, I'll have a look :)

I wonder if it has anything to do with the delay in the steering wheel and hands on the screen. Even though I turn them off, I wonder if their is an input delay as some others have noted. And it is making me be more reactive, making microcorrections and its coming through as this weird steering sensation.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, I dont find the degree of seat movement great enough to get the view I want anyway...so I'll just keep using the dash-view.

Yeh, I’m having the same problem. Dash view seems to work best for me. The car was twitchy and un-drivable when I switch to cockpit view.

Wonder if you have figured it out?

I'm going to say its just the FOV. different perspective will always have a different "feel" because of your own eyes and body readjusting to compensate.

this isn't because of the game. or your wheel. i use a controller and if i change from cockpit to just chase cam it does feel different and i have to readjust mentally and in my driving style.

at the same time i do know what you are saying and i have felt the same for a while but i'm certain its combo of change of perspective (FOV), input delay, graphics settings, and driving style. i always control the car better in cockpit view, and in chase cam i ahve more awareness but i lose a lot of my control and have to adjust my style to brake more, less throttle on turn in etc... my 2 cents.

also i crash a lot more on chase cam cause looking at my car drift looks cool especially 80mph into logs :)

I change my Helmet FOV and position the camera as close to the dashview as possible and It still felt off. Way more foreign than going from like dashviee to fixed cockpit view or bonnet cam.

But I may have figured it out. Under the FFb settings I changed the first setting from Device Driver to On and now the issue seems to have resolved and I dont think its placebo either.

I use either dashview or helmet view now depending on the car.

Since I have a similar FOV set in cockpit and dash/hood, I haven't noticed a difference. It's definitely a FOV thing, happened to me in one of the Battlefield games when devs changed the FOV of vehicles, I noticed it immediately after the patch thinking they nerfed them when all they really did was lowered FOV.
