I know steam is a cesspool, but you can be part of the crap, or do a bit better.
You could probably resort your thoughts a bit to make it cleaner. And you could use an extra return to make things easier to sort through.
Your understanding of arcade games is a joke. They were easy to play, hard to master. Beginners should not get good times on stages. I guess you are not familar with arcade games. Don't act like you are an expert of things you don't know. It invalidates your credible points.
You're absolutely right, and I have rewritten the entire post as a result. Thanks.
I honestly fail to see how this game is arcadey. The cars don't feel on rails, the grip doesn't feel crazy tight, maybe just a hair.
I find this game wonderfully satisfying. It nails lots of great little details, like when you land a big jump in Finland or Estonia, and you see this giant cloud of dust rapidly flow in all directions. Or when you really dig hard into a muddy corner, you really feel the tires dig in deep, as suggested by the thick muddy particles and how the car responds.
No other game has nailed this as well as EA WRC, IMO. This feels like true rallying to me.
The only point that I have is that the reality is good arcade games were always easy to play, but hard to master. It doesn't matter if it was a fighting game or a racing game or anything in between.
That's important to understand and that was repeated thousands of times during the arcade golden era. So a good arcade game would not allow a beginner to have a good score early on. That generally was not the case and shouldn't be evidence of anything.
From almost every single person who verifiably has driven real rally cars on a real rally stage, they've all confirmed that this game is the closest experience to the real thing yet.
The only thing people are comparing EA WRC against are other games, which is a highly flawed methodology when criticizing how arcadey it is.
We know how much Codemasters references real life conditions, sounds and visuals. It's why the engines generally sound so close to the real thing. Hell, the engine acoustics even change if the bonnet is closed or flown off. I trust them and other rally drivers more than random gamers.
I own Wrc8 and 10 and both are in terms of sound, physics and ffb just poor.
Also they just "fire and forget" their products so they didnt bother to fix the broken ffb...
To be fair EA WRC ffb is attm for me not 100% satisfying but i enjoy the driving here.
After yesterdays tests on tarmac i can say this is little bit too grippy especially in wet conditions and with an rwd car. But this could be tweaked in the right direction.
EA WRC is not perfect and when someone do not expect the RBR reincarnation then its fine.
But everyone has the possibility to tet it 2h and if you dont like it then refund. Thats alls.
At the end its just a game.
The Pick me up and play and to have a great time is the out of the box settings
The Option to turn this all off & Terminal damage is another ball game
I mean i could bounce off a wall and hit a rail then smash into a wall again and all i have is a broken headlight yet my repairs are my exhaust ( Thats like an invisible star from mario kart ) and still come first with no degradation to the vehicles performance (out of the box)
but theres a huge difference in assist handbrake turn than a no assist handbrake turn
what feels like a rollercoaster ride than free to tear up your rear tires as you see fit
arcadey or not no one likes to die instantenously from a pebble hitting your car
then you have the simulation crowd saying they eat pebbles for breakfast
I aint knocking this game as i love it
There are plenty of arcade drivers out there that are still hard as nails.
Precisely, Like having a green mushroom 1UP from mario
Theres nothing bad about it and ill eat mushrooms all day on some of these crazy long ass stages
