EA WRC has the best rally stages of all time, and here's why.
I ran the Estonia rally, had a blast with it because of the constant jumps and satisfying corners. Then I wondered how real drivers did it. Found this onboard video: https://youtu.be/1CGxPEe_uE4
The rally stages in this game are incredible, because Codemasters matched the actual location almost perfectly. Even down to the smallest details like what the little poles in the ground look like, or those weird tiny wooden racks on the side of the track, in only a few corners.
Every stage has hundreds of unique assets that aren't replicated in other stages. No rally game has given us this much accuracy before. I think this is incredible.

Those little poles... The secret wonder weapons of Estonia :D Had some close encounters with them earlier today. :)
I agree, stage design are top in this game. All locations are unique, all has a different vibe, different flow.
About the embedded video: I don't understand the language but I'm sure the co-driver reads black magic spells, that's why Rovanpera can defy laws of physics. :D The "whoo-hoo" moment at 2:34 :O

I guess some people like dress up, but not stages that are actually challenging, engaging, and really visceral.

While I didn't think the stages in DR2 were boring, some of the stages in this game are kind of boring. People are going to continue to say (correctly) that the KT Racing WRC stages were better.

I think you are mistaking full-length for boring. Real rally stage design has long-ish "boring " elements on purpose for a couple of reasons. There is freakin' geography, but a stage should lull the driver into patterns and then present them with sudden changes to react to.

I said in another post that these stages are MUCH more RBR like, as in accurate to life.

So I agree with OP's spirit but say best rally stages yet made. We now have closer to reality stages with modern graphics and WRC Official. Best of all worlds so far.

I NEVER thought I would see Rally Kenya done outside of RBR. Kenya is a rally where if you do everything right your car will still die. All the other rallies are dangerous and have their thing like speed or "technical Apshalt" lol. Rally Kenya's thing is survive.

Could you imagine if Codies did a Dakar game?

Aye, Kenya is a truly incredible experience in this game. In most other prior games it's a cakewalk. Not anymore. You can get taken out if you don't pay close attention to the terrain in some segments. I also loved the challenge of trying to manoeuvre my car during that segment where the middle of the road is very raised compared to the edges where your tires are planted.
I think with time, people will realize how incredible this game truly is.
This is also a huge reason why real rally drivers are highly impressed with this game. It's the closest thing to real rallying thus far.

ahhhh!
You folks are making my mouth water.

Don't mistake a highly edited promotional video with the drivers as "proof" that this is the most realistic rally game every.

I don't think this game sucks, it's decent enough, but there is still a lot of room for improvement, especially with the stages.

Well, the stages are real, but they chose the most convenient and bland stages.
It's almost funny how every marketing campaign claims rally to be the most brutal motorsport, yet there not a single donut (?) and not a single SSS (?) (which are the most technical IRL mostly) in the game.
And before you say "well, the game have to appeal to a general gamer" I need to point out that previous WRC games didn't suffer from this. SSS with donuts were present in WRC 7, a game in which the handbrake had to be tuned by the player, unusable otherwise.

I'm not mad at the developers though as this is exactly what I expected from these devs as all of their work suffered from this as well.

At the fourth jump, I will render my breakfast XD
It's incredible the way how they take the jump with a little slide...
I prefer do this in virtual like irl 😅😅

Brother, they chose those stages because these happen to be the real WRC stages this year. Or are you saying FIA should've picked cooler looking stages IRL? lol

Also, as various comments in others threads, you will see :
In ea wrc there aren't :
Germany, whales etc stages...
For the moment they've put the most played specials with short and realistic stages.
So maybe we need to wait the famous VIP dlc 1 to dlc 5.
For me the future dlcs will be skins and new stages. I don't think new cars.

Not at all, I'm saying that they should have included at least some of the more technical stages that appear in the real WRC like SS Harju in Finland. which is iconic at this point, or any of circle/arena based SSs like Baltar in Portugal. Those were soooo fun to drive in previous games by KT and actually required some specialized tuning setups specifically for them.
This was resulting into some really interesting decisions that had to be made. Like do I want to be really fast on that second to last long stage or do I want to go all in into that last SSS being power stage as well and take maximum point but possibly 2nd/3rd overall? Those were good games that kept me on edge almost every event

Ahhh ok 😅
I haven't played yet the career mode. I've played only in clock mode.
Because my game have some crash with Ue4 and D3D or it's directx 12.
Various owners of this game have a pre shaders compilation where it's broken.
I mean, we have stuttering and crash to desktop.

Wales in the dirt rally games are the best rally stages ever put in a game and I have yet to experience anything better.
xsni Nov 1, 2023 @ 4:40pm
The huge amount of stages and tracks and the best part about WRC. Hopefully with more optimization it will be a gem of a game.
